They are really squandering the prime years of some fantastic players and it sucks to see, especially since it’s a great city for hockey. Not sure what’s going on over there but I hope they can figure it out.

It's the players themselves fault too. Tarasenkos had a terrible year shooting and hasn't look engaged hardly whatsoever. Schwartz always seems to block a shot and get hurt. Schenn, no complaints he's bern healthy and looks like he generally cares. The team needs a culture change whether that be bringing in somebody or someone stepping up and getting tired of rolling over night in and night out.

Schenn's last 41 games are more indicative of his career than the first 22, this is the first time ever he will hit 60 points. But he has regressed badly last 40+ games.

So we are going to exclude that the first 22 games happened? We are going to just pin point the bad and exclude the good? A lot of that 41 was player on a line with Dimitrij Jaskin by the way along with a very sub-par recovering Steen

Exactly, they will have a hard time with their coach and GM...

And Schwartz and Tarasenko flanked him in Philadelphia to coattail, no?

Look at Schenn's history, which is the norm the first 21 games this year or the last 41...be objective and not listen to the Blues media hype.

That is so Yeo. Relying on washed up, or near washed up vets like Heatley and Pominville while sitting guys like Zucker, Nino, and Haula is what got him fired in MN. Decent coach, but he doesn't trust young players, and he is tougher on them than he is on vets. His PP 's tend to stink, also.
The thing is it's not like Yeo isn't using or trusting younger players. He's giving plenty of opportunities to Thompson, Barbeshev, Dunn, and Blais. It's just that guys who have been on the roster for years and should be producing aren't. It's not as much as an over-reliance on older players as much as the older players really aren't playing so well. The 3rd line, in particular, can't buy a goal.

I'm not saying your wrong on Yeo however.

You want me to be objective sure I will. Schenn as a 25 p 41 Game Center is an extremely valuable player.

His offense takes a dip when away from Schwartz, just as Tarasenkos does. Not to mention that Steen through Schwartz injury was still recovering from his own injury. Schenn was not playing on a line with hardly any offensive ability whatsoever.

Be objective to the Blues media hype is a pretty ridiculous statement. Our media is soft, but it's generally just bitching about nobody respects us or NBC favors the Blackhawks so on and so forth.

Blues with an outstanding effort last night in Operation: KEEP OUR 1ST RD PICK AND MAKE THE FLYERS WAIT TILL 2019.

We will happily select Jack Hughes when you “win” the first overall. But seriously, I’m not sure you guys could even tank that hard, you have a sizable lead on teams 10-12, and an almost insurmountable lead on 1-9th. You’ll need some lottery luck to keep the pick, but that could cut against you as well. Imagine finishing 10th but then being pushed back to 11th because a team behind you won the lottery.

Anyway, Schenn has been a core player for you guys, so hats off.

Is there a problem that the Blues media pimps its players like literally every other team in the history of sports, or are you just bitter?

How long until management realizes that Allen is not as good as they think he is?
Perhaps not until after they're (Armstrong) fired and a new regime is brought in.

I'd have to think Armstrong is on the hot seat, as they've seemingly been a ''Contender'' for 5 or 6 years now, yet they haven't really gone far. Just one conference finals appearance and a couple of very disappointing playoff ousters.

IMO, too much reliance placed on vets who are coasting. Also, still in a retool and the kids arrive next year but, with the way we dish out ice time to undeserving and overpaid vets, I'm not sure they won't be blocked. Lots of rot right now.
Yeo did the exact same thing in Minnesota

Mayb e Blues' fans can affirm or negate this:

Yeo, in Minnesota, left the impression that he prefers a very disciplined, structured, defense-first-so-not-give-up-good-chances-and-our-time-will-come philosophy. But, what happened here was that it takes tremendous mental fortitude to play that way for months and months and months. NHL forwards are more accustomed to reacting with instinct toward offensive openings, but the word seemed to be that Yeo tried to instill a greater measure of caution.

And, then, at some point, the players' minds wear down, and they can't concentrate that like for a full year. But, it goes really sour because you have also broken the offensive-reaction response, so offense doesn't come naturally any more, either.

Not able to watch the Blues, but does this seem to describe what's happening?

As a side line--goalie equipment rules and slashing penalty calls have raised average scoring league wide this year. On average, that makes it more difficult to play defense-for-60-minutes, because the rules themselves open up more scoring, making a strict system more of a risk.

Anyone?

I’m not ready to have a pity party for the Blues. They have a great young nucleus now and several high end prospects on the way. They just need to figure out their goalie situation and the’ll back near the top of the league in the standings like they have been the past 6 years. Just a little bump in the road this year.

The Nate Prosser curse?

November 30th when the Blues waived Prosser and Wild claimed him (he has not been scratched once in MN):
Blues: 17-7-1
Wild: 12-10-3

Since Nov 30th
Blues: 17-19-3
Wild: 25-10-4

Coincidence or is Prosser a warlock that cursed St. Louis on his way out of town?

Nashville mentally broke the blues after that 3-0 comeback.

We were trending down but honestly haven't been the same since.

Season's over. Rootin for the Jets and Pauly Walnuts now baby.

I think a quick retooling could be a good plan. When I look at that org, you've got excellent top end prospects, some depth in lineup, a young stud 1/2 in Parayko and an electric player on the IR. Also, call up Husso next year.

Lets get that now Flyers pick to 11th Overall please! Keep sucking, but don't suck toooooo much.

No can do brah, they're digging deep and are determined to see this Operation through to a suck-cessful conclusion. All they have to do is start Allen every game and keep doing what they're doing.
