From the Central’s penthouse to outhouse and on track to lose another game against Nashville.

For the people who don’t follow the Blues consistently, what are the main contributors to their downfall?

Can’t score enough?
Undisciplined defensively?
Shoddy goaltending?
Thorburn effect?

Maybe Marty should suit up then? :dunno:

But I think the "Undisciplined Defensively" aspect leads to what APPEARS to be shoddy goaltending, mainly 'cause the number of Danger Shots increase and thus, the blues Goaltender is hung out to dry.

If the Defense played better, the so-called Shoddy Goaltending wouldn't even exist.

Blues have an absolutely horrid 3rd line, their best LHD has a broken arm. Allen is, well Allen. And to top it all of they can't score right now.

The whole team is just a bunch of misfits, they have no complete players.

Schwartz is the closest thing they have, but he is tiny and lacking physicality. They have probably the slowest forward corps in the league and just aren't good at the possession game. The PP has to be 30th or worse by now as well, it's pathetic. Berglund is slow, has no creativity and can't successfully make a pass besides dishing the puck back to a Dman. Every year his line is a black hole of production. Sobotka gives no effort. Steen is aging. Statsny is a solid complimentary player, but there isn't enough to compliment. Allen is horrific. His positioning gets worse and worse every game. I've noticed Allen's poor positioning/movement since the first game he started in the NHL, and nothing has changed. They need to move some pieces...Steen, Sobotka, Berglund, Staz, Gunnarsson, Schmaltz, Allen etc and see what they can get.

Our GM has scoured the world, signing every third/fourth liner, yet our third line still contributes nothing. Our "secondary scoring" is when our first line scores more than they're expected to. And, right now... they're scoring far less than they're expected to. Our GM can't watch someone score a goal or make a save without immediately trying to get that player to sign a long term deal, at top dollar.

I like the guy, and no one is perfect, but come on. Jake Allen is a bozo, and whoever signed him is a dunce by default. I've seen Jake Allen contemplate taking fault for 1 goal against, in his lifetime. Like, it's not his fault for treating the ice as a swimming pool. I feel sorry for our players for having to pretend they don't hate this d-bag. They're not just depressed he is starting games for them, meaning they've lost before the puck drops, but... the fact he's allowed to even enter a hockey rink.

If you had to play against anyone that bad in practice, I'd imagine you'd give no effort, too, if you had a 100 shooting % against him. They're playing like they've become aware of the fact they're an inferior team. Playing like they know winning isn't for them. At least they're being realistic. Hopefully the GM can follow suit. If we don't land Tavares, I'd bet against the Blues ever winning a cup.

Vegas is supposed to have all of the bums of every NHL team. Turns out, we actually have collected them all. We deserve the first overall pick, atm, and some GMs need to reevaluate their ability to assess talent.

Blues are still a great possession team though, and they used to have one of the best defensive forward depth in the league, even earlier on this season they were fantastic as a team, it's just recently they've been downspiring.

Yeah, they really look bad lately. Another loss today. Got to wonder if they do enough to get back to the playoffs or if this is the end of a few season run of being a mid level team for the Blues.

Are Blues fans happy with Tarasenko this year? I've only seen him play vs my Bruins once but he didn't look engaged or in to the game at all.

Nashville is gonna breeze through to the stanley cup finals. West doesn't look as impressive as early in the year.

I dunno.. Winnipeg, Dallas, Anaheim if they get in, and the ultimate wildcard in Vegas. Not the typical bloodbath that it used to be but it won't be a walk in the park.

The east looks way stronger this year than the previous years though.

Team is soft as shit and folds when they're scored on first. A team that doesn't have any flow or chemistry. Yeo isn't helping either, isn't giving them a direction. There's just too many things wrong.

Not at all. The production is still there for the most part but his overall game is lacking. You nailed it on the head when you say he didn't look engaged. That seems to be the case more often than not.

As for the OP, I wish we looked bad because that would be an improvement on how abysmal this team looks.

Personally, as a big Tarasenko fan -- I'm disappointed. The main thing, though, is his shot is simply off. It's pretty much been off all year. He's obviously one of the best shooters in league, usually, and his shooting % is under 10 for the year, and he has to be missing the net far more than ever before. He's gone from being pure money to having Steve Ott work on his shot with him......................

Everyone is going to go through a funk, eventually. So, that's whatever. It's not for a lack of desire. He went into the season expecting to hit 50 goals this year. So, he's even more disappointed than usual. But, what disturbs me is... "his lack of dominance." In the past, you'd watch this guy and just think... wth... it seems like he generates great scoring chances every shift. How is this guy not hitting 50+ goals? Now... it feels like he's creating far fewer grade A chances, and... like I said... working with some of the worst shooters ever. Depressing.

Winnipegs too green. Dallas is not a good team at all. They have one elite line. Rest of their team is average. Vegas doesn't have any game breakers. Anaheim has been up and down. All though i can definitely see them give Nashville a run for their money.
