What? I don't understand.

He's trying to make the team. He may, or he may not in which case he'll be sent down. If that happens, I would be very surprised if he is claimed (since every team has guys who are borderline and getting cut at that time).

You seem to be assuming Rattie makes the team. I don't think that's automatic, but the chances are increased if Sobotka isn't in camp, or if someone gets injured.

I'm not really assuming, but I think his contract and the risks that come with it favors that he does make it.

I'm not sure anyone will claim Rattie if he has to clear waivers to be sent to the AHL, but I suspect that if it is between him and Paajarvi for the final roster spot they may send down Paajarvi for no other reason than the fact that they know from prior experience that he will almost certainly clear waivers.

From like 15 and down it's kind of a crap shoot for me, mainly because I don't have as much knowledge on those guys.

I expect 7D and 14F on the roster.

I don't see any of those guys really being at risk of not making the team, although Sobotka may not really be in there if his contract situation blows up. That leaves ONE forward spot that everyone else is fighting over. I think Rattie has a good chance to make it, but I don't think his contract really will be the deciding factor. It wouldn't shock me if one of Paajarvi, Porter, Galiardi, etc, wins out for that spot, especially if they want more of a 4th line guy. Or maybe the team open the season with 8 D-men again.

Bottom line, if Rattie doesn't show up and prove he's one of the best 14 forwards, I think the team would have no hesitation about sending him to the AHL to start the year.

I really like seeing everyone's different lists. It provides great insight on what people value and what players each believe will be "sleepers" in some way.

That is one reason why these polls should go streight to EBB22 on PM. Less biased opinion and there would be some waiting to see what kind of result we get, 'cus now we already know the result. After EB22 post final poll results that would also increse discussion about players and their #position etc. but I'm fine by this way too. :)

I personally think the weighed-average results you just posted is a more accurate representation of our prospect pool overall, then the individual positional-rankings done 25 times. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I've been wanting to see the results this way for a couple of years now.

I think this method produced a better list as well, even though it's only based on 20 ballots.

I'm guessing that's partly because the nature of this process tends to discourage participation by those who have less time for and/or interest in the subject matter.

The flip side of that coin is that less participation means fewer conversations (productive or otherwise) about the prospects, which kind of defeats the purpose in a way.

I'll be interested to see what sort of feedback this gets.

I also think that this method produced a little better of a list but I wouldn't advocate for getting rid of the individual polls method thoufh as yes, it generates a lot of good discussion.

Interesting to see some of the bigger movers. Musil up 7 spots? Wow. He did have a solid Traverse City tourney though, which I would imagine opened some folks' eyes about him.

Yeah I like these lists too. I find it interesting how other people weigh or evaluate players. I think I like the individual polls better though because they spark some discussion about the lower tier prospects that we don't talk much about.

I think this way is fun, but I don't really see the difference between the two.

They both have benefits and drawbacks that I really don't see as separating each method from one another.

Thanks, Easton. Count me among those that like this format better in terms of the outcome of the rankings.

One of the most interesting take-aways I have from this process is that the difference between #1 and #4 was only 14 points, while the difference between #9 and #10 was 98 points. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but this signals to me that we as a fan base believe that we really only have 9 defined prospects at the most, and that everyone else is nothing more than a suspect.

He jumped 4 on my personal list. In the one game in Traverse I watched, he was assertive and helped setup quite a few chances. Saw him as someone with 4th line grinder potential in the future but after watching that game, I could definitely see him as a solid 3rd liner that can contribute 30ish points.

For more comparison, Instead of adding up points I averaged out the ranks of each player when they are ranked. I wanted to see how that turned out because of some players being left off ballots. I didn't average anything over 25 into it, and took anybody without half the ballots out of the rankings. The differences were just a few players trading spots.

I also counted how often they were on the ballots, and their highest and lowest ranks.

1. Jake Walman (Average rank 2.5), 20/20 Ballots, High: 1, Low: 6
2. Jordan Schmaltz (2.8), 20/20, 1, 5
3. Ville Husso (3.1), 20/20, 1, 6
