RIP Fugu ϶(°o°)ϵ
I know that some people have lists that are very different from what our poll series results might indicate, so I thought we might try ranking the Blues prospects a different way and see how the results compare.

Anyone who is interested in contributing, post your personal Blues prospect ranked list from #1 through #25 (or less, if you are so inclined) in this thread. A #1 ranking will be worth 25 points, #2 worth 24 points, and so on down through 1 point for a #25 ranking. A list must be at least 10 players to be included. If it's longer than 25 players, I'll just use the top 25 for the final results.

At the end of a week or so I'll go through and tabulate the results from the individual ballots to get a composite ranking. If this generates some interest, maybe we'll consider doing it with the poll series in the future, or perhaps even replacing that series depending on feedback.

I'll post my personal list in a day or two.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: I copied the final results into the OP.

Rankings based off 20 ballots cast with total number of points received in parentheses and movement from final poll result:

I don't claim to be an expert. These were compiled based mostly on limited viewings, but I'm fairly certain I've seen everyone on this list play at least in the prospect camp, most of them in game. I look forward to seeing everyone else's lists.

EDIT: The goalies especially are just kinda thrown in between my tiers of prospects. I don't even attempt to rate goalies because I don't know what I'm looking for other than whether or not they stop the puck often.

The first 10-12 prospects I've seen a few times at the very least. After that, it becomes more of a crapshoot for me as I need to go off scouting reports and observations from several Blues posters on this board who have attended the prospect camps.

I hate having Rattie and Lindbohm on this list because I think they have played enough NHL games to have graduated from a "prospect" list, but I wanted to be consistent with the fact that they were treated as such for our rankings. My personal overall rankings are a reflection of three factors - the probability of the player having an NHL career, how close they are to playing in the NHL, and the impact I expect they will have at the NHL level.

I really like this idea. In fact, I was planning on doing it right after the usual polls were done. :)

I think it'll be interesting to see how this list differs from the individual poll method. They'll be close of course but some polarizing players could be fairly farther up or down.

There's also a timing aspect of it to where this poll of a top 25 will take a week where as doing it individually took months...and I could see folks' opinions changing about players along the way of such a long polling process. I'll be interested to see if any of that's reflected in this poll.

My list:

1. Walman
2. Husso
3. Schmaltz
4. Thompson
5. Dunn
6. Barbashev
7. Kyrou
8. Lindbohm
9. Rattie

5. Vince Dunn
6. Ivan Barbashev
7. Jordan Kyrou
8. Ty Rattie -
9. Jordan Binnington
10. Petteri Lindbohm
11. Adam Musil

Good idea, but if we would like to get not 'biased' result these votes should put as a PM message to EB22 not in public message. After result we should speculate and start discussion.

Big issue is limited viewing of most prospects - especially in Europe. Also, we have issues of how you weight potential vs NHL readiness. The other big issue is watching them play on the ice at the same time to get a better comparison.

Pains me a bit to put Musil at #10, but I think he's probably the best bet of the bunch to turn into a quality bottom 6 center, which I value a bit more than a bottom 6 winger or bottom pairing defenseman.

My goalie rankings have always tended to be severe relative to most. Part of that is tied up in the difficulty projecting them out long-term, and part of it is tied up in the relatively devalued nature of the position. A goaltender just isn't worth that much to the organization unless he turns into an average or better starter, and right now Husso is the only guy who is on a track that gives me any confidence in that possibility at all...and he hasn't even played in the AHL, yet.

Hey Easton,

Is there anyway to sticky this? It would be fun to do annual rankings of prospects - each fan, and then compare them between the years just to see.

There's a cap on the number of stickies a forum can have, but perhaps we can add links to each result to the forum resource thread, or do something similar to memorialize the results.

No. And there is a decent chance he could be snagged on waivers. I doubt it would happen if he gets sent down during training camp, though.

He'd have to be sent down by the end of the month since the season starts on the 12th. I don't see him getting just a week long look.

What? I don't understand.

He's trying to make the team. He may, or he may not in which case he'll be sent down. If that happens, I would be very surprised if he is claimed (since every team has guys who are borderline and getting cut at that time).

You seem to be assuming Rattie makes the team. I don't think that's automatic, but the chances are increased if Sobotka isn't in camp, or if someone gets injured.
