shifting every forward down the depth chart can have a big effect, but it probably doesn't change the outcome of the series, you are correct. If they signed Stone long term like Vegas it would have been worth it anyway.

Gaudreau is the only line driver the Flames have, when he is double teamed, it is not a whole lot he can do.

Stone would have created space for Gaudreau and Monahan because he is willing to do the dirty work and could have got them going. Plus Stone is a heart and soul guy, he leads by example and would have instilled some emotion and heart into this roster. This Flames roster had no guts, no will what so ever, they were a disgrace.

They don't even have the long term cap room for Stone because they blew a ton of money on James Neal (lol) and have to sign Tkachuk and Bennett now.
