They already won two cups though. Ovi on the other hand...

With the talent level of the pens the past decade, 2 cups is definitely below expectations.

Oh and to answer your question, Detroit absolutely choked in 09, no excuses for blowing that series.

ridiculous. In what situation is losing a series not choking to you? Only if you're the away team and lose in 7? Every other situation will include losing two in a row at some point, right?

So, what leads did they blow?

2010 . . . Fleury.

2014 . . . Crosby with 1 good wrist, fine, I'll still give it to you.

One blown lead is not several.

And, after Crosby and Malkin, what talent exactly have they had to support them in the last decade?

A little advice . . . think about that answer a little more carefully than your obtuse 'several blown leads' false narrative.

ridiculous. In what situation is losing a series not choking to you?

Actually, you're being unfair to the ridiculous. Heck, calling that narrative brain dead would be unfair to the brain dead.

Actually it would.

There's nothing worse than choking away a Stanley cup.

Who is choking away the cup?!?! We are playing a really good team that is almost unbeatable at home this postseason. Our blueline is nowhere near Cup caliber and the majority of our roster is either injured or just straight worn out. Winning the Cup this year would be borderline miraculous considering the issues the Pens have faced. Choking away the Cup...please

It would be more miraculous given how the bench has been managed.

If you start a series 2-0, you better finish the job.

The Pens in 2015 are a good example of losing but not choking. They were clearly the inferior team and gave their best effort.

Do you honestly believe the pens are giving their best effort right now? And if they are, sad to say but our stars are slowing down then.

So, what are your several examples of Sid and Geno choking series leads? Sid and Geno . . . and not Fleury mind you.

Regardless of the outcome the real tragedy of these playoffs is just how **** the NHL has become. These teams are so battered and the officiating allows so much interference that what's on the ice is just not quality hockey. It's a shame.

Would you prefer the term played well below expectations?

You don't even have to blow a series lead to choke, Boston 2013 is a perfect example of that.

Yes Boston was the better team that year, but it's absolutely pathetic to score 2 goals in 4 games when you have Sid and geno.

So, you've decided to move the goalposts from 'several blown leads'. I'll take that as you admitting you're wrong.

And, I'm chalking up 2013 as much to Shero and Bylsma as Sid and Geno. Can't win playing 1 or 2 on 5.

Dude that's just a ridiculous comment. Every team that takes a 2-0 lead and loses choked? Are you serious? Even matchups are expected to be won by the home team. If you go up 2-0, then they come back 2-2, that's pretty much following expectations. At that point its a best of 3 and anybody's game.

I kind of see where he's coming from. Going up 2-0 in a series is what, like, an 85% success rate?

But still, this isn't your typical series. The Pens were hilariously outplayed in game 1 but managed to win because Rinne was atrocious. They were better in game 2, but until the third period they were being heavily outplayed again. So it's not like we won two lopsided games, or were even really in it for the entire 6 periods to start this series.

Since we seem to have moved past last night's game, let's move back to the series thread.
