Great argument.... Zinoviev and Dallman are idiots if they stayed in Boston they'd be making WAY more than 4.7 and 2.8 each.

Krug on that extra ice in a less physical league would be dynamite and worth whatever he gets.

They would be if they had stayed. They couldn`t make it in the NHL, so they went to an inferior league where they thrived and got paid. That's how bad KHL is lol. Krug actually can play in the NHL. Why would he want to go to Russia and all the uncertainty over there. Maybe if he didn`t have a future in the NHL. This is just a desperate KHL team that sees an opportunity in the fact that Krug doesn`t have a contract yet.

What political unrest? There are no Ukrainian KHL teams.

It's exactly like saying that European players are afraid of joining Dallas Stars or LA Kings because of the cartels killing people in Mexico.

Not at the moment, but teams still need to travel to Belarus, Sochi, and Slovakia. Teams traveling to those Barns come close to Ukraine airspace. That was the Scouts take and said specifically that players on those 3 respective teams are already pooping in their pants.

This. Every day life in Russia is no different than it was before Ukraine overthrew the government and Putin's cronies.

THe banking stuff is somewhat relevant though. US Nationals can't bank at Russian banks right now.

And it could be another 5 years until Ukraine settles down. Im Ukrainian and a lot of this stuff is inevitable and sad frankly but the country has to go through it to break ties with Russia and one day get into the EU. Only thing that will work is peaceful measures however.

Hopefully Russia hosting the Euros in 2016 can be a positive force to get this stuff sorted out. I really want to go and check out Zenits new stadium when/if it is completed.

We don't know what KHL team it is but if they are in Moscow or Petersburg Krug will have the opportunity to live in a much better city than half of the NHL ones. Who in their right mind would rather live in Edmonton or Columbus than Moscow?

Stop making sense.
You might shatter some long time cultivated prejudices, cliches and stereotypes of some of the folks here.

Agreed, but this is not directed at this board but more of Western culture as a whole. I would love nothing more than to visit St Petersburg. I also work with a number of Russians in the IT world and they are very friendly down to earth people.

Hey, Columbus is nice.

Edmonton however...

However, he doesn't have to live in Edmonton. He gets to live in one of the best cities on the entire continent.

Is that scout that you're constantly referring to scouting the peewee league in Moose Jaw City?

In any case, the guy is absolutely clueless and he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. And that's putting it mildly.

Bratislava is around 1,500km away (Minsk - 1000km, Sochi - 500km) from the Southeastern edge of Ukraine, which is the only place where the fighting takes place, and it is limited to the Luhansk-Donetsk area. The rebels do not own any type of SAMs with such a huge range.

Not to mention that it's a regional conflict and no one's shooting down random passenger jets over European airspace outside of Southeastern Ukraine, which, once again, is where the fighting is limited to. Also - international airspace over entire Eastern Ukraine is effectively closed after the MH17 crash.

So, please, stop talking ****.

Clear negotiating ploy, he'll be in Boston this fall.

Perhaps as a parting gift the K can have Caron.

He will have to wait for next year for that. There is no money available, he has no leverage but to hold out or go to Siberia.

Red = Siberia
Blue = where the KHL teams are playing.

Also, the teams based in Europe only play 1 game per season against teams from the Eastern conference.

Red = where the fighting takes place
Blue = area with no KHL teams

Also, the GDP per capita (PPP) in Moscow is roughly the same as in Canada.

So, to resume, he doesn't have to go to Siberia, he doesn't have to risk with his life, nor is he going to live in a some sort of a barn with no running water.

They don't have hyperbole in Latvia?
We do have hyperbole. The thing is that his point is invalid and the hyperbole doesn't work.

You see, if he was moving to a city with a lower quality of life and/or economic development than Boston, that would be a succesfully executed hyperbole.

Interesting fact about America, when someone says, "We're not in Kansas anymore," they often have never been to Kansas in the first place.

kansas-location-map.jpg

While they say "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas," it's proven that the location of your actions are directly irrelevant to the ramifications of those said actions. What happens in "vegas" can lead to a direct impact on your life at home whether it be in Massachusetts, Maine, Texas, Florida, etc.
