Another floor in this game is there were people that wanted to take Subban in the 3rd round but then he was available in the 4th but that is still using hindsight to become a better drafter...
One major flaw is the assumption that the players available would still be available at the next selection.
For example if Vancouver took Nichushkin 9th perhaps Hunter wouldn't be available at 24th (which could happen if Dallas picked Hunter).
Is he actually a prospect?
Well since horvat went #9 I think you put him there or not at all. I think that is a fair rule for all Canucks picks.
As for Subban you have to assume he's there at 4th, if people want him at 3rd, that is fine.
It would be better to do this before the draft and do it as a draft list of maybe the first two rounds. That way we don't get the hindsight of knowing who is getting picked later than we would have thought.
So I thought it might be fun for everyone to put who they would have drafted at each spot in the draft. We could do something like this every year, and see who does the best job at drafting, bumping this thread a few years down the line. Maybe you could even be able to replace our current scouts
Anyways, let's try to leave player discussions out of it, and just list who your picks would be.
For reference, here are Vancouver's picks:
9) Bo Horvat
24) Hunter Shinkaruk
85) Cole Cassels
115) Jordan Subban
145) Anton Cederholm
175) Mike Williamson
205) Miles Libertari
And here's who I would have taken:
9) Valeri Nichushkin
24) Hunter Shinkaruk
85) Sven Andrighetto
115) Jordan Subban
145) Markus Soberg
175) Tyler Hill
205) Lucas Wallmark
Anyways, have at it, name your picks!
Shocking to see Nichuschkin picked.....Ya let's trade Schneider for the biggest risk in the draft, that's smart.
