2nd SO loss. Many more tied/OT games to come. IMO we need someone who can dangle in the Shoot-Out, besides Spezza and Ryan. Not Michalek. Someone with proven SO prowess, who can be had without giving away the farm -- somebody like Matt Hendricks on Nashville. His SO stats were awesome with WASH.

Obviously this need could also be met with a big blockbuster trade, like Anderson to Oilers for Eberle or Gagner ++:naughty:

If players not named Spezza and Michalek are given chances we might win

I don't understand this thread.

First of all, you're acting as if multiple Senators have played on the shootout and lost.

We lost 2 games in the shootout and all 3 shooters shot twice.

What we really need is just to give others a chance. Turris is also not so hot on the shootout.

MacArthur is lethal 1on1 though. Ryan is good too, he had some great chances. Zibanejad, Conacher, Grant.

We just need to use diff guys.

Maclean is pissing me the **** off. If it wasnt for his horrible coaching decisions the last 2 games, we would have won them both. Idk whats up with him especially after last year.

- We have lost 3 Shootouts so far, not 2

- Active skaters career scoring % :

http://www.nhl.com/ice/shootoutstat...otingPctg&viewName=shootoutSkaterCareerTotals

* including players with very few attempts :

Spezza is 91st
Turris is 118th
Michalek is 191st
Ryan is 194th
MacArthur is 417th (0 for 11)

Total = 418 players have participated in SO so far...

Zibanejad is 1 for 2, Corvo is 1 for 3, Karlsson is 1 for 4...

The problem for the Sens in the shootouts is that never seem to get goaltending and scoring AT THE SAME TIME. And you need both to win them. In fact, I don't remember a good goalie we had in SO outside Hasek (who is well, good at everything)

Bishop was pretty good at the shootout iirc.

Lehner has been terrible in the SO, especially in Bingo all these years.

He really needs to get that solid.

To be fair to him, he's only allowed two goals on six attempts this year. Which is not so bad.

His teammates have scored exactly zero goals for.

I couldn't find the AHL stats, but I can tell you from watching first hand, they are just as bad.

We just seem to not understand how to play shoot-outs properly. The shooter HAS to go high. Goalies are too solid around the bottom of the net these days. And in response to this, the goalies HAVE to stay on their feet. I noticed Lehner seems to get "smaller" in the shoot-out he shrinks into the net. Whereas I recall Bishop always staying upright and "big".

As bad as they have been at times, the Sens could be 7-6-1 with better execution in the shootout.

I'd like to see them try different shooters next time. These missed points will cost them down the road.

The shootouts suck, and I just call the game a tie, but everyone plays within the same set of rules. Teams are going to win wildcard spots because they can score on breakaways.
