I am a big proponent of the deke, don't shoot school of thought.

Sure, sometimes you blow it, but you have to get these big goalies moving.

Fun Facts about shootout goaltending:
- Craig Anderson hasn't made a shootout save since 2 seasons ago (March 2012). He was only in one shootout last year and went 0/3, and one this year where he went 0/2.
- Lehner let in 6/10 last year and 2/4 so far this year, so his career numbers are 8GA on 14 shots, or a 0.429 save percentage.
- Ben Bishop for all the talk about his five hole saved 16/19 last year and has saved 3/3 so far this year.

I'm not trying to make a point, I just found this interesting, or at least more interesting than my job.

Lots of speed, quick release. You get the goalie backing up quick and it's harder to react to the shot.

Just win the game before the shootout, problem solved.

If you carry a player who is only good for one situation that doesn't even occur in 40% of games, your likelihood of getting to that stage is far greater.

Sometimes the old ways are the best.

Obviously this need could also be met with a big blockbuster trade, like Anderson to Oilers for Eberle or Gagner ++:naughty:

Why the puck do people want to trade away a star Goalie who can handle 50 shots a game.

Ask yourself what happens if we only have Lehner, and he goes down with an injury????

Will Eberle or Gagne play nets????

We would have three more wins and three more points had we won our shootouts. That's a huge deal if you ask me. But I'm not advocating we acquire a SO specialist, I just want MacLean to wake up and play anybody else but Michalek and to a lesser extent, Spezza. Really is dumbfounding how he used the exact same SO lineup yesterday as the one we had just lost with.

Well, yeah. The lack of Kyle Turris in the SO is astounding imo. Two of the games we lost via shootout we allowed 4 goals in regulation. This is just my crazy opinion but I'd work on shoring that up before giving any ducks about the shootout.

Need to let Karlsson take some shots in the SO. He's got elite puck skills, so give him the chance to put them to use 1 on 1.

I'd rather worry about aquiring somebody that will help us win games in regular time rather than wasting an asset on somebody who's going to be used primarily used for the shoot out.
