All three of you who remain, vote Sharks for the upset! We have a deep group of forwards, and KLLR posted a picture of pastry instead of a roster. You can't argue with that logic.

I did all the trades and stuff for thsi game on NHL 13 and then simmed the season with no injuries and here is the story of that NHL Season:

Half way through the year at the All-Star Break a lot of teams were bunched up to get into the Playoffs...

With all of the turnover around the NHL this is what the NHL All-Star Line-ups looked like:

In the West:
All-Star Forwards
Zach Parise (MIN) - Henrik Sedin (VAN) - Marian Gaborik (EDM)
Henrik Zetterberg (STL) - Johnathon Toews (CHI) - Patrick Kane (CHI)
Jamie Benn (DAL) - Anze Kopitar (LAK) - Dustin Brown (CBJ)
Martin Hanzal (PHX) - Joe Pavelski (SJS) - Damien Brunner (DET)

All-Star Defensemen
Jack Johnson (ANA) - Shea Weber (NSH)
John Carlson (ANA) - Zach Bogosian (EDM)
Dennis Wideman (CAL) - Michael Rozsival (CHI)

All-Star Goalies
Niklas Backstrom (MIN)
Semyon Varlamov (COL)

and in the East:

All-Star Forwards
Alex Ovechkin (WSH) - Sidney Crosby (PIT) - Phil Kessel (TOR)
Rick Nash (NYR) - Evgeni Malkin (PIT) - Martin St. Louis (BOS)
Jeff Skinner (CAR) - Steven Stamkos (TBL) - Claude Giroux (PHI)
Daniel Alfredsson (OTT) - Joe Thornton (NYI) - Blake Wheeler (WIN)

All-Star Defensemen
Niklas Kronwall (BOS) - Kris Letang (PIT)
Andrei Markov (MON) - Adam Larsson (NJD)
Christian Ehrhoff (BUF) - Ed Jovanovski (FLA)

All-Star Goalies
Ryan Miller (BUF)
Marc-Andre Fleury (PIT)

With the East winning by a final of 5-3.

At the end of the Regular season there were a few surprises including one that nobody would have seen coming...

After going for a rebuild the Detroit Red Wings went from Perenial contender to basement dweller finishing dead last in the League at 30th. But that is not the biggest surprise of the season...

After trading away Thomas Vanek for several prospects and getting career years from players like Ryan Miller (1.96 GAA, 36 wins, .9375 SV%), Tyler Ennis (36 Goals, 74 Points) and Tyler Myers ( 11 Goals, 52 Points) the Buffalo Sabres soared all season and finished with the Best record in the Eastern Conference.

with the final standings looking like this:
1. Buffalo Sabres
2. Pittsburgh Penguins
3. Tampa Bay Lightning
4. Toronto Maple Leafs
5. Philadelphia Flyers
6. Boston Bruins
7. Florida Panthers
8. New York Rangers
9. Montreal Canadiens
10. Ottawa Senators
11. Washington Capitals
12. New York Islanders
13. New Jersey Devils
14 Winnipeg Jets
15. Carolina Hurricanes

In the west there werent as many or as big of surprises. The usual crowd of Chicago, Nashville, Vancouver, and San Jose made the playoffs with the rest of the spots being filled the the Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild, St Louis Blues, and Edmonton Oilers.

With solid additions like Jordan Staal, Mike Ribeiro, and Jack Johnson on board the Ducks were able to cruise to the top of the NHL and earn the franchises first ever Presidents trophy with 111 Points.

The final standings were as follows:
1. Anaheim Ducks
2. Chicago Blackhawks
3. Minnesota Wild
4. Nashvile Predators
5. Vancouver Canucks
6. St Louis Blues
7. Edmonton Oilers
8. San Jose Sharks
9. Colorado Avalanche
10. Columbus Blue Jackets
11. Phoenix Coyotes
12. Los Angeles Kings
13. Dallas Stars
14. Calgary Flames
15. Detroit Red Wings
These standings would create the following playoff series:

In the West:

:ducks vs :sharks
:hawks vs :edmonton
:wild vs :blues
:nashville vs :nucks

In the East :

:sabres vs :rangers
:pens vs :panthers
:bolts vs :bruins
:leafs vs :flyers

Everyone knows the playoffs is where upsets happen and this years postseason did not disappoint.

In the Conference Quarter Finals only 4 of the 8 higher seeds won their series and a total of 5 series were decided in Game 7's.

Here is the breakdown of the first round:

#1 :ducks vs #8 :sharks Ducks win 4 games to 3

#2 :hawks vs #7 :edmonton Oilers upset winning 4 games to 3

#3 :wild vs #6 :blues Blues sweep 4 games to 0

#4 :nashville vs #5 :nucks Vancouver dominates the Preds in 4 games to 1

#1 :sabres vs #8 :rangers the #8 seed Rangers surprise the Sabres and win in 7 games

#2 :pens vs #7 :panthers the favored Penguins squeak out a 7 game series victory

#3 :bolts vs #6 :bruins Tampa narrowly escapes a Physical Bruins team winning 4 games to 3

#4 :leafs vs #5 :flyers arguably the most entertaining series, the high powered attack of the Maple Leafs blitzed the Flyers in 7 games.

So the Conference Semi-Finals are as follows:

#1 :ducks vs #7 :edmonton

#5 :nucks vs #6 :blues

#2 :pens vs #8 :rangers

#3 :bolts vs #4 :leafs

All four series in this years Conference Semi-Finals were long, hard series all going at least 6 games of physically demanding playoff hockey.

#1 :ducks vs #7 :edmonton in a tight 6 games series involving 4 sets of overtime, including a 3 OT nail-biter the Oilers shock the Presidents Trophy winners 4 games to 2.

#5 :nucks vs #6 :blues after 60 minutes of 7 grueling games there still was no winner of this series and it wasnt decided until the waning moments of overtime before Vancouver would score to defeat the St Louis Blues 4-3 in both that game and the series.

#2 :pens vs #8 :rangers with a team that is built almost entirely for playoff hockey the New York Rangers were able to escape Pittsburgh with a Game 6 victory and a series win.

#3 :bolts vs #4 :leafs a series that was worth its weight in gold, wouldnt be decided until game 7 where James Reimer would stand on his head and show the world that the Leafs dont need another goalie to win, taking Game 7 into his own hands and winning 4-1.

The 2012-2013 Conference Finals will pit the:

#5 :nucks vs #7 :edmonton

and

#4 :leafs vs #8 :rangers

Both series would be decided in 6 games and both took on drastically different characteristics.

#5 :nucks vs #7 :edmonton

With additions like Zach Bogosian and key losses like Jordan Eberle you know the Oilers would start to play a more defensive style and against a team with as many great defenders as the Canucks it was a good thing they did, every game was decided by 1 goal, with the highest score in the series being game 1's 4-3 OT decision. Unfortunately, the Oilers loss of fire power was their undoing falling to the Canucks in a very defensive affair.

#4 :leafs vs #8 :rangers

this series had everything, except for a Game 7. Both teams had high powered offenses, physical and nasty defense cores, and goalies that could steal a game for your team. every game was a different story with Game 6 etching a new chapter into the New York Rangers Cinderella Story titles "The Stanley Cup Finals."

Game 1: Canucks show their Cup Final experience and pounce on the Rangers early, Lundqvist plays well but not well enough... Canucks win 2-1

Vancouver leads 1-0

Game 2: Rangers score early, play defensive scheme perfectly and win 1-0.

Series tied 1-1

Game 3: even game, chances going both ways but then Brad Richards gets hurt, Rangers never recover and lose 3-1

Vancouver leads 2-1

Game 4: close game Vancouver has slight edge in shots and chances but nevertheless game goes to overtime tied 2-2. Would need even more time and go to 2OT, in a scrum Derek Stepan filling in at #1 C for Richards scores to win it 3-2

Series tied at 2-2

Game 5: fatigue from their rough and tumble style of play slows the Rangers down and the Canucks speed is no match. Canucks easily take Game 5 6-0.

Game 6: Rangers start pressing to get an early goal, couple of posts are hit but still tied nothing-nothing. Lundqvist would not let the Rangers lose on their home ice and holds the fort. Dorsett scores his first of the Playoffs at 17:56 of the 3rd before Nash scores and empty netter. Rangers won game 6 2-0.

Game 7: Raucous crowd in Vancouver cheering for their Canucks to finally get past the hump and win a Cup... Solid first 20 minutes, tied 1-1, second period Canucks to up by 2. Third period comes around and after the first few minutes a surprise guest joins the Rangers Bench... Brad Richards, out with Post Concussion Syndrome walks onto the bench wearing sunglasses and high fives every player trying to do anything he can to inspire his friends... It works 2 minutes after his appearance Brassard scores to cut the lead to one. 7 minutes later Staal scores and draws the game even. Four minutes later the Canucks score with just over 2 minutes to go, the crowd is going wild, the arrangers pull their goalie and with 54 seconds left on the clock Stepan scores to tie it again. 4-4 with a minute left. Puck is dropped Rangers win the faceoff, dump it into the Canucks zone Schnieder goes to play it and mishandles it the puck pops loose in the slot and Rick Nash slams it into the open net. 2 goals in 13 seconds to take the Lead. Lundqvist would close the door in the waning seconds.

#8 :rangers have won the Stanley cup!!!!!! Congratulations to them and their wonderful Cinderella story!

Honestly, I simmed every game so the final scores are true and some of the stats are true but the several movie-like moments I just added for dramatic effect haha.

Richards really was injured in game 3 and so it's true he missed the rest of the series but the game 7 thing was fake. Though the Rangers really did come back in the 3rd and score those 2 goals in the final minute but the real details I'm have no clue about.

We believe here in Orange County we posses a wonderful mixture of Experience + Youth as well as a nice mixture of Grit and Skill. We have 8 former Stanley Cup winners in our lineup (Giguere,Perry,Getzlaf, Beauchemin, Penner,Staal, Franzen,Selanne) and they will help the youth control there emotions in the playoffs. We feel we have the best team in the west and maybe even the league. Solid Goaltending In Hiller and a Great Backup in Giguere. Top 6 Is even with anyone in the league and so is our bottom 6. Same goes for our Top 4 D and our Bottom Pairing. We believe we have what it takes to bring a cup back to Duck Country .

Vote #2 :ducks2 over #7 :edmonton

So the Wings are 18th in real life and they only drop one spot without Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Howard, Filppula, Franzen, Kronwall, Ericsson, and White? I'm sorry but that's complete ********.

A team trades away all of their good players and tanks? How strange, I thought the Wings would still be a bubble team based on this game.
