You, me and a few others are among the minority here in seeing how pointless this deal is.

And having Simmonds for 20 more games is better than losing him just for the sake of losing him 'cause that's what a 5th rounder is basically.

And before anyone ONCE AGAIN (for the billionth time) brings up Bratt, he was a special case. The guy should have been drafted in the earlier rounds but opposing teams obviously either didn't scout him well or at all....'cause otherwise, he would not have been there in the 6th round.

Toronto may have been a dumpster fire against the Canes but they'll still stay way ahead of everyone else in their division because no one there can go on an extended winning streak, let alone the Sabres.

the logic is ok but i won't agree with this trade but not gonna argue about it.. i am a big mcleod fan... he won't live up to his draft position but i like his game in a 9-12 role forward. he brings a nice north / south element..

They are 8 points from the 2nd wild card, and 6 points from Toronto.

With 20 games remaining, I just don't see them being able to make any type of extended winning streak to catch the 2nd Wildcards, let alone Toronto.
