with 4 points today that gives Crosby 171 iirc... Mario had 172... its absurd the Pens have had these kinds of players back to back...

He is also 14 points from the top ten all time...
The only officially active player ahead of him is Jagr, with 201.... and the only active player close to him is Malkin... who has 160...

The next best is "technically" hossa at 149... then the drop is steep to elias at 125...

The playoffs/cups is where Sid has a chance to build (on)his legacy. I have always thought that the playoff single season goal record of 19 is reachable.

It's seems like one of the most breakable records in hockey. Crosby had 15 in 2009, but I doubt he ever gets that many again.

Could actually see that kid in Boston come close to that record with the way that line has been dominating.

Of course that team would probably have to lose a few games along the way, and there's no guarantee in that happening.

Jagr will be 80yrs old and still be "officially active."

The fact that we have multiple players on this team who will pass Lemieux in playoff points is absolutely ridiculous. We are lucky.

Mario did it in 107 games.

What are the odds he gets 3rd all time?

Needs about 2 more Cup runs, should we be so fortunate.

If he plays 6-7 more years he needs on average 10 points per year.. I think it's quite doable. Even if most of the runs only went to the second round he should be able to do that.

A good run this year would be huge.

Mario's playoff stats are absurd lol. Show you how unbelievable he truly was.

A few more solid runs and Sid should probably crack the top 3 before it's all said and done. If only we could play Philly and face Brian Elliot every round

It has to be the perfect sequence of teams. Playoff hockey can lend to some really obscure stats because you're playing the same team 4-7 games. If Sid's path were something like: PHI-NYI-TOR, I think that could set him up really nice going into the SCF.

It's just Pejorative Slured when you think of it at 1.6 ppg
Sid and Geno have a great shot at 3/4 if they continue like this

He needs 17 points in the next 21 games he plays to match points and pace of Sakic... after that its a pretty doable pace into the top 5 if he gets the games in...

Philly, Columbus, Tampa and then the finals is a nice set up. He seems to be in goal scoring mode now.

Unfortunately, if the Pens get past the Flyers, he won't be able to play against the Flyers anymore. But he's historically done well against the Caps - except when they take him out with head shots - and Jackets, so there's always hope.

Oh, Sid and Geno could easily be 1-2 all-time on the "Anyone but the Oilers from the 80s" list. THAT'S the craziest part. What they have accomplished is unreal.

This is why I can't help but laugh whenever people on HF don't think Sid/Geno are playoff performers.

"I'd rather have [insert player who had one good playoff run] over Crosby in the playoffs because Crosby doesn't step up when it matters"

The Pens don't even need to go on long runs the rest of their careers to see them finish up there. If Sid averaged around 10 points per year, he'd finish 3rd all time if he plays another 7 seasons. That's crazy.
