Can anyone that is brighter than me help me understand how an 16 year old (or any age for that matter) who is expected to wear a suit to games can wear their hockey underwear under their suit? Even if not wearing a suit, this is idiotic. I played what was Tom Thumb hockey in the 1960s and that was the only league that I recall getting dressed at home. Once we grew up you dressed at the rink.
And if “changing clothes in the change room” is now verboten, how do the players get out of their gear and underwear to get into their swimsuit on so they can shower as per Hockey Canada‘s new requirements.
And then they wonder why teams and leagues are breaking away from Hockey Canada to go independent? What a bunch of clowns.
Is this happening in other sports like minor football? In youth swimming do they have to change out of their swimsuit to wear a second swimsuit to shower in after a swim meet?

NORTH BAY — Hockey Canada wants minor hockey players to wear bathing suits while showering in an open-concept shower and they must wear a base layer before getting into their hockey equipment in the arena dressing room.
The new dressing room rules were released Sept. 12 and apply to all minor hockey teams sanctioned by Hockey Canada.
In North Bay, city Councillor Justine Mallah said staff will create private spaces in the northern Ontario city’s arenas by installing rods and curtains in rooms without doors.
The new policy affects players right up to the under-18 age division.
Hockey Canada is asking players who want to shower to use a private washroom stall to change out of their base layer and into their swimwear before using the shower.
Coaches and team staff must supervise the dressing room while participants are showering. Hockey players who don’t want to wear the base layer, such as shorts and T-shirt, under their hockey equipment will be required to change in a private space. Hockey Canada says the new model is meant to create safe, inclusive and equitable dressing room environments.
