Should we trade the draft pick or draft Eichel instead of Mcdavid?

how about Ristolainen, Bogosian and the 2nd over all (Eichel) for McDavid

Swap Bogo with Reinhart or girgensons and we'd have to at least consider it. Eichel is no bobby Ryan, he'll be a top 10 center I think. But McDavid will be the best player in the league. Gunna have to overpay considerably to close that gap.

Mario was not happy about going to PIT and look at him now, he's completely immersed in the Pittsburgh community and part owner of the Pens.

Lemieux snubbed the Pens at the draft because he wasn't satisfied with the money they were offering him, not because he didn't want to play there.

Ugh.

It's not in the DNA of Canadian teenagers to snub a team. No player has done it in two decades. At no point has he given any real indication that he would. Taylor didn't. RNH didn't. Nail didn't. McDavid won't.

Here is him literally 20 seconds after that pic everyone was showing of him being "sad". Connor was probably frigging exhausted from all the crap the last couple of days, and was probably slightly dissapointed he didn't get to go to Toronto.

I like Eichel a **** ton (which is a lot for those too young/old to translate :) )... but the simple and most obvious move is drafting McDavid and then management FINALLY making other moves to help with a) defense b) goaltending and c) grit/size in the top 9.

I could certainly get behind proposals that bring those essential elements into the roster.

Keep the best and trade the rest. Balance on the roster certainly desperately needs addressing as even with the best offensive top 6 in the NHL... the team will still flounder if other areas aren't upgraded and fixed.

1 golden piece will soon be added but there are still MANY holes on this roster which McDavid can't fix and MacT stating that next year is another development year isn't going to get this team headed in the right direction anytime soon.

The one thing that Edmonton has needed is a generatonal talent and we've finally got one.

You can't **** this up.

I literally chuckled. I've liked this team for a while and always had that wishing they would do better, but right now, you guys literally CAN'T **** this up! At least, you guys better not! I'll declare myself a bandwagon Oil fan right now.

No way.

He was probably just still digesting the news. It was literally like less than 5 minutes after they announced it.

Anyone who watched the lottery could tell clear as day that Mcdavid looked devastated and extremely depressed when Edmonton won.

I don't want him here if he doesn't want to play for us. Should we trade the pick? I'm sure we could get a bonafide superstar from another team or even 3-4 very solid NHL proven players. That could be better and turn us into contenders now instead of drafting a kid and hoping he pans out who doesn't even want to be here.

Or maybe we should draft Eichel instead of Mcdavid and hope he turns into a better NHL player? I don't want somebody here who doesn't want to play for us, no matter how good he is. What do you guys think?

Here's a pro tip for you............NOBODY wants to play here!

If "wanting" to play here was a prerequisite we wouldnt be able to ice a full roster.

MacT even said that the chance that we trade the pick is slightly less than 0%. So there's that. Can't **** this up.

I think people are misreading his reaction.
It wasn't about being happy or sad, it was about being professional since this wasn't the actual draft but rather a lottery BEFORE the draft.

If he acted like he just got drafted it woulda been used as fuel for haters as they could call it presumptuous arrogance etc etc blah blah blah

He's just humble and well learned already in how to deal with stupid ass media

McDavid is a pro. He will relish being an Oiler and will turn the franchise around.

Oilers won the lottery and won McDavid. They ARE NOT moving the pick and they ARE taking McDavid. No questions... Edmonton's brain trust is not thar stupid.

Congrats Oilers!

I am going to shut this thread down. McDavid has said repeatedly that he will go to whoever drafts him and MacT has said there is less than zero % chance he trades the pick.
