You won’t get much better then Nylander for Weber
Like whoI'm quite certain if the Canadiens were to make Shea Weber available they would absolutely get a better return than William Nylander.

Are Shea Weber's seasons as a 33 to 40-year-old worth more than William Nylander's seasons as a 22 to 29-year-old (assuming a max-length contract is signed this off-season)?
How many great d-men are there over the age of 32? Dustin Byfuglien (33), Ryan Suter (33), Brent Burns (33), Mark Giordano (34), Duncan Keith (34), who is a stretch at this point. The only one significantly older is Zdeno Chara (41), who is a freak and probably not "great" at this point, except against the Leafs.
Yes because those players have a much more bigger impact than Nylander
For how long? One year? Two maybe?
lol because a 1D stops being good at around 34 years old? Chara is 41 years old is still having a bigger impact than Nylander.
Yeah cause Weber had a 6'9 wingspan + stick to compensate for when he can't skate well anymore.

In the history of the NHL? Lots of great D played past that and played well. Big Buff and Burns are older than Shea but don't hear too much about them being useless. Shea's strengths are a big shot and positioning, that's not going to disappearThe exception that proves the rule. Name all the other 1Ds over 34. . .

Not quite true. The Laffs have been garbage since 67 big difference.1993. Both teams have been garbage in the past 25 years. (And before you say, oh 2 conference final appearances with the habs, that's not even close to up to their historical standards of winning cups.)
If he keeps playing like he has been during the playoff it won’t be hard to outplay him. He’s been a ghost... a very soft ghost

Naw .I'd rather have a guy that shows up come playoff time.Auston Matthews
I don't know why folks think Nylander is soft. Many NHLer don't have great skills so its dump the puck in the corner. At least Nylander tries to make a play with the puck. What would the Leafs prefer that great Hab first rounder McCarron?
But these Weber to the Leafs are pretty pathetic. Can't Montreal fans think of any other teams that might want Weber in a trade? If Leaf fans say no, is there no other alternative for a Weber trade? Guess not, cause I rarely see one.
So out of the ones in the NHL . . . Chara. Big list!He doesn't need to be a 1D to be as important to a team as Nylander. Nylander is probably equivalent to a #3D.
Guys like Markov, Chara, Gonchar, Lidstrom, Pronger, Hamrlik, etc. were all still really good defenseman after the age of 34.
