Stone is already locked into the Vegas system with like 25 games played.
Karlsson took like 45 games to get acclimated to the sharks system. Seems like the system is overly complicated and easily shut down.

Yes, it does. There are completely different stakes, and throwing a guy who's never played a game into a high-stakes environment is a good way for him to lose his confidence right away. Guys getting thrown into that situation and succeeding are incredible exceptions.

What if he plays really well or at a level that is on par with his abilities?

This franchise could be set back for a long time. We're stuck with the Couture, Jones, Vlasic contracts and Kane's contract will likely not look good soon with his play style. We have no 1st round picks for a while. If Karlsson leaves we have some cap space but no top player has signed with SJ and I doubt it's gonna start now. If we clean house with DW and Deboer gone we really need to get lucky and pick a smart GM who can get us out of this mess.
