I would've preferred VGK over Kings in R1 and that hasn't changed. Vegas is a good team but Oilers are better.

Split McDavid and Draisaitl back up. We let a hot goalie convince us that it wasn't working when it was.

RNH-Bjugstad-Hyman on the other hand absolutely does not work.
RNH-anybody-anybody absolutely does not work. Its a miracle we got through this series with him ghosting out on the 1st round 5v5

the good news is that if he even plays at 50% this round we're instantly better

Guy just came off a 100 pt season where he was excellent, and where the lines he was on were often very good. They weren’t this round and that is on him, Hyman and Mcdavid for the performance early coupled with la doing An excellent job in them. But don’t say nothing works with RNH it’s absolutely not true.

A lot of his biggest and most regular critics were incredibly quiet this year…funny to see them back out in full force and so eager.

McDrai had to face Danault.

Nuge went up against Kopitar who despite his age is no slouch.

Nuge will match evenly against William Karlsson.

Btw....
Its pretty stupid the #1 team in the conf (vegas) has to play the #2 team in round 2 (Oilers) cuz nhl playoff seeding is so dumb.

Even if a pacific wildcard team Seattle beats Colorado. The bracket is set.

That's bad but I like it's Vegas because that's at least a new opponent.

The bigger issue to me is the opponent variety issue. They want rivalries with this format but imo it isn't needed. LA has got to be sick of us. It would be nice to see a new matchup but even for next year it's decent odds we see this again. It's even worse out east.

It's very possible that maybe LA was just the wrong opponent for him, perhaps due to their top six depth and defensive identity. Maybe next series RNH comes alive but some other players fade.

Plus all through the first round RNH was an important part of our awesome PP

Reasons I am not worried

- Vegas has no centre's to match against McDavid and Drai
- we have the edge in goal (even if Thompson is back)
- we have dummied Vegas this year so far
- every forward line we have is better than the counterpart on their team - on paper

Reasons to be worried

- Mark Stone always plays incredible against us.
- our own mental mistakes and inability to put games away when leading

Sounds like Janmark is almost ready to go. Will Woody go back to his original lines and split up McDrai to start this series?
I hope so. Vegas doesn't have a Kopitar or Danualt to do the shut down game that LA did. Splitting up Drai and McDavid against Vegas should work well, in theory. We have to get Janmark back in, our PK is wat better with him on it.

Playoff runs are long and different players step up in different series. Kostin was huge this series. Against the knights it might be guys like Nuge who step up.

I think the Kings were a much tougher opponent. But curious to see how much the Oil have in the tank after a very difficult 1st round series.

Vegas with Mark Stone in is much scarier than LA, imo. Like what Ekholm did to the Oilers D, Stone does for the Knights forward group. Everyone drops a spot and plays in their appropriate position. And Vegas is a deeper team than LA. Nervous about this series.
