Anderson was offered a 3.7 million per year contract from Colorado and basically pulled the chute on them, citing personal issues and so on so that he wouldn't have to play all the games.

http://www.denverpost.com/ci_17439991

"According to NHL sources, Anderson — traded by Colorado to Ottawa for goalie Brian Elliott — was offered a two-year, $7.5 million contract extension during the offseason. Had Anderson accepted the offer, it would have given him a raise of nearly 200 percent on the $1.8 million he averaged in his nearly two seasons with the Avs. Keep in mind, that wouldn't have been a bad paycheck for a guy who, despite a fine regular season, didn't win a playoff round and the goalie who won the Stanley Cup — Chicago's Antti Niemi — was given a one-year, $2 million contract by an arbitrator."

Anderson has pulled the chute at least twice over the past few years. First the frozen chicken excuse, now a mysterious upper body injury that he doesn't seem in a rush to recover from.

I'll take Lehner. He's unpolished and he needs expereince but at least he doesn't sulk or give up on plays when the opposition gets ahead (Watch Anderson's shoulders slump when he gives up a goal or two).

That link says jack and all to support the'personal reasons' argument. Colorado offered him a deal, he declined, then the team stopped negotiating as that was Sherman's policy. He was subsequently dealt.

Meh. Sens playing a must win against the leafs ? Toronto wins every time, Kadri lights it up

No, Leafs would be playing a must win game.

IMO coaching has really let the team and fan base down.....MacArthur and Lehner have both come out and basically have said that this team doesn't want to play defence and only care about scoring goals. This to me is where coaching comes in. You can't play the whole year making the same mistakes without accountability. Maclean plays a system where he wants all of his defence men activated into the attack and to me that is a mistake because your offensive guys should be offensive and your defensive guys should be defensive. Guys like Phillips, Cowen, and to a lesser extent Gryba look lost and confused when pinching and always get caught.

This is where accountability comes in. If guys like Spezza, Karlsson, Phillips, Cowen, Neil, Smith and Greening all feel like they could do no wrong and always make the same mistakes without paying for them then, this will always be the same result. An example of this is Smith's penalty last game. There is no way he should be in the lineup today. I would go with Kassian-Greening-Neil as the fourth line and give them two minutes.

The best part of playing the role of spoiler:
We play the Leafs in our second last game. How sweet would it be if the Leafs miss because we beat them?

That would be amazing

However we never beat Toronto when it's important

Never, even when we used to beat them 8-0 in meaningless games, when something was on the line we always lost and lost big

Always

Kalrsson is always invisible when we play against them, it's baffling

If you know the game defencemen who do pinch expect to get caught. They take the player if they missthe puck. It is the forwards responsibility to COVER.

And if you know the game then you would know that there is a time to pinch and a time not to pinch. There is no reason for Phillips to ever be behind the opposition net.

This is super true. Last year when a dman would pinch into the Ozone, our fowards would seemlessly swing back and cover their position. This doesnot seem to be happening with regularity this year

You Lehner fan boys are really grasping at straws here.

Anderson has never "quit" on this team no matter how many times you guys keep repeating it.

Injuries happen. And goalies will never "play thru injuries" because if a goalie is hurt, it messes with their mental game.

Also, remember O'Reilly's dad's comments about Sherman and Sacco. That team treated players like crap. There's a reason that once they cleaned house, the team is now a real contender.

Mysterious injury...haha what's do mysterious about Michalek elbowing Anderson at full speed on a guy who already had one concussion this year?

Was Reimer faking it when Gionta elbowed him? Or Miller when Lucic nailed him?
