Yandi had some amazing apply cider drinks over the holidays this year. Very mixable!
I just looked those up and they do look delicious!

I still buy from internet grey market to save money, so I don't see all the same products as the govy stores. Most Cannabis infused drinks are typically pretty mild in flavor I find, so they can mix nicely. Or just do it on the side in some other form lol. I'm big on the vaporizing side of things. Own a Hybrid Volcano, Dynavaps, ball vapes and some others. Filtering with water pieces and dry glass can switch it up too. Really saves the throat and the lungs compared to smoking.

The booze/weed buzz together can be a nice place to be if you gauge it right. Not for everyone, but it can be quite the euphoric feeling. Some guys have started bringing them to beer league and will sit there double fisting with that in one hand and a beer in the other lol. And much of my team has heavy Conservative party ties here, so it sure feels like different times.

They were outstanding. No weed flavour, just strong spiced cider: would gladly have bought them (at a lower price!) if they weren't dosed.

If you go full legit, keep an eye out for infused coffee pods. I just opened it up and brewed in a pour over and it was great for a sunday aft!

I have tried vaping pot in various forms before, but I never felt I got the same kind of high that smoking did, which I don't mind - I traded smoking cigs for a vape so figure it balances out using some stoner math, ha! I actually went back to joints after using a water bong as I found I just smoked too much that way. Love rolling j's, but I got hooked on open end pre-rolls... the old lady says I smoke them like I'm smoking a cigarette. I hope that's not a slippery slope, but I feel so damned cool I don't think I can go back, lol.

I find I'm at my worst if I drink a bunch then smoke a joint. Just something about adding on that high when already drunk that usually sends me to bed with the spins. But smoking before, or imbibing in a THC drink? No problemo. If the Fed ever end up loosening restrictions, I can already see a good trade in bars mixing THC/CBD cocktails. I'd spend more time in bars if that were the case.

Love that your beer leaguers have brought weed drinks into the mix. They must really feel like they're flying out there :D

One of the clubs is called Vehicular Exclusivity…they are on instagram and have announcements. There is also a big one called Cars and Coffee at Landsdowne. There are two dates confirmed, I have them and just need to look it up. But again, some pretty sick cars there

I'm surprised you didn't bring a banner condeming them for wasting their money on something so trivial
Coladin,

If a friend of yours was cheating on his wife with the prettiest, 21 year old around.. How should you feel? Jealous or disappointed.

If a friend of yours smokes 2 packs a day, drinks 6 beers and yet his kids have to go with little. Should you be "hey he should be free to live his life as he wants to", or should you be disappointed?

If a friend of yours takes a back hand to his wife, should you be "the bitch deserves it".. or should you be disappointed?

My Grandmother, rest her soul, was born in 1904, in the Arab world. She had a Philandering husband that left her with 6 kids.. She had to work as a maid. In the 1940's a maid in Lebanon was called "saunieeh".. That translates to slave. It was not uncommon to beat them. The term is; 'use a kirbage' or a whip. In 1940's Lebanon, if your choice was working as maid or as prostitute. It was easier to be a prostitute.

Her daughter, my oldest Aunt, was 12 when she began working to feed her siblings. From birth, until a miserable death, she toiled.. God, chose to punish her, there are "stories" to her life that would bring you to your knees.

My parents were 'poorish', uneducated. Worked themselves into broken down bodies.

All of the hardship endured by my family, was and is, to help educate me and transform me into a decent, civilized, caring, responsible human being.

They sent me to school, so that I may have a brain in my head. So that I might make wise decisions. All the while, have those decisions be guided by humility, decency and care.

I was taught to love my neighbor, care for him. I was taught to shy away from the 7 deadly sins.

My Father owned a shoe store in Lebanon, in a small village in the south. Relatively speaking that made him wealthy.. Many villagers would come in needing shoes for their children and with no money to pay for them. He either forgave the bill or put in on a tab.. A tab that when we left Lebanon was thousands of dollars, un paid.. And we landed here with little but the shirt on our back.

He had 23 God children.. It was a testimony to people not forgetting the shoes on the tab.

And so you see Coladin, there is a right way and a wrong way to live life.

You can be; intelligent, caring., moral, pragmatic, sensitive to your fellow man. Or you can be otherwise.

a 5 foot nothing, 90 lb, crooked legged, white haired, half blind, hands distorted from arthritis, beaten as a maid, humiliated for much of her life. A daughter that God has taken his anger at. 23 Godchildren. Will not be tossed aside by me being anything other than the person that they hoped for. I will not have all that suffering in vain.

Should I act like an ass, then each lash of the Kirbage will simply mean eternal suffering. Each day of hard labour for a 12 year old, will haunt for eternity. Each Father who could not pay for his son's shoes and had top endure that indignity, would be in pain for eternity.

people need to learn to walk upright and carry themselves with dignity.

Read up on the Mitochondrial Eve DNA.. they traced us all to early life around 200,000 yeras ago.. They call it the Eve DNA... so 200,000 years for us to become evolved is long enough. Shouldn't we be a tad further ahead.

@Micklebot ... I know.. More headaches for you. delete when you want.

What I don’t understand, is the BEV people are all about this environmental saving nonsense….but how do these people think when these batteries are rendered useless and basically much to expensive to replace that the car is garbage?? There are multiple Ferrari owners now dealing with battery replacement for their LaFerrari cars. The cost is over $300,000USD. How about all the Tesla people who own the first generation cars are also dealing with battery replacements. They are dropping the cars off at the scrap yard and just buying a new car. Way to save the environment. Nonsense
Do you have any stats on e-vehicles and their average lifespans and costs versus gasoline powered vehicles?

there were Car shows at the race track/casino and a smaller one in Kemptville. Are they still going?

The race track/Casino was terrific, fairly large

pretty sure there is a weekly one in Carleton Place during the summer.

Open my front door a few moments ago, and a beautiful red Fox is on my lawn. He/she continued on their path.. majestic animal.

Last week, two raccoons were frisky in the tree in my back yard. One was a tad larger than the other, so probably pregnant.

Rabbits, skunks, racoons, foxes, cayotes, deer. All in the last year. I am a proud parent to a pack of rabbits, one about 2 inches long chased my all over my drive way. Damn near terrorized me.. Killer bunny!!!!!

Elephants and tigers are next.

The coyote was best, strutted down the street like he owned it. One of my early to work neighbours must of needed a pants change that morning.
Here’s one for you Beech…

Oh, you had a fox?

I had a deer give birth in my back yard, a big cat grab a baby rabbit living in my side yard and take it over a 5 foot chain link fence while it screamed, bald eagles circling constantly looking for rats, kittens, and anything edible, and huge friggin’ turkey vulture straight out of the comics sitting on the corner of my house eating kill, like where the f*** did you come from??

Drive up Bear mountain for a work dinner in the snow (rare) and had to stop for momma and kiddo bears crossing.

Add in my kids school on lock down because of a cougar sighing in town, and I’m thinking what the f***? But really, happens more than you’d want.

Raccoon? Yeah we have a family in the huge hedge at the end of our driveway, they like to push over the garbage can when the get hungry, but they have to be careful; huge f***ing barn owls sit on the power lines looking for snacks as well.

City of Victoria dreams…. Haven’t seen a fox though.

Sorry, you were talking about what??

;)

....all this to say.... and I have absolutely no idea how to relate any of this to my point. None. Nada. You are the Aesop's Fable of OT Lounge , in an endearing way.

I was just messing with you lol, as you went all " cars are a means to go from Point A to Point B" blah blah blah, and then you are like " wow, car shows!". A little inconsistent hmmm?

Thanks for the immigrant story, very interesting. My parents came with nothing from Italy, taught me values, hard work, compassion, but also standing tall. You can learn a lot from the past and it can still shape the future

I forgot to circle back to this, but I just got an email FROM THIS FORUM asking me to buy Cannabis from their advertising partner, MOOD, and after I got over the initial shock, it totally reminded me! What a world we live in now. Bout damn time these barriers were broken down, considering how much booze is accepted and how much worse it is for us. Or all the prescriptions everyone is downing.

Coffee pods sound amazing! I could definitely be in to that. Sometimes I like to high dose edibles and that's where the online stores really come in economically. You can get a bag of 500mg thc gummies for like 10-12 bucks on a sale and discount code stacking. 1 of those before hockey gets me feeling amazing. Distillate carts like $15. OZ's of AAA for like $70.

If you can handle it, and are home for the night, it can be fun to occasionally go really hard with like 200mg edibles at once. Best sleeps of my life, but not for the newbs.

You are probably doing pretty good for yourself just with giving up the smoking. And yes, there's a certain satisfaction to smoking joints, but if I smoke regularly, my heartburn flares up, so I've moved to Vaping to alleviate that more than anything. There's also a scientific argument that you can actually get more stoned from vaping, because much of the active ingredients burn off while they can be activated at lower temps. That said, I found somewhat what you did where it wasn't the same initially, but I started raising temps above 400f and usually up around 430f, and I find it is much more satisfying. Also quality of vapes is a HUGE factor. They are not all the same by any means and a lot are straight up crap. I'm big on the scene and have a lot of the higher quality stuff. Can't go wrong with a volcano hybrid or a ball vape (PID controller, coil & head filled with rubies). I also really like the Dynavaps. Those mimic smoking more than anything and they're what I use out of the house with induction heaters. Can also be used with torches. So many cool products in the vaping world.

100%! A joint after drinking is basically a bed sentence for me. If I time it right, I'm okay, but ya, you're right that there is a point where they just don't mix. Hard lessons that I never learn from lol. Gotta love dumb booze overconfidence.

I brought a batch of cookies to the last Dawson City tourney we had. Oh boy, let me tell ya. I like to get high, but I over did it and we had some tough circumstances. Goalie could barely stand up. 3 guys couldn't make it out of the dressing room. Even I didn't want to go out on the ice for my shifts lol!

A happy "your information is being sold to everyone" marketing e-mail - when does that ever happen?

Lots of barriers still to go, but it's amazing how far we've come in such a short time. My partner worked on legalization and this comes up regularly when an innovative new product comes to market. I'm genuinely looking forward to the day when I can get a restaurant meal that's infused, or pop in at a bakery to get something that's fresh out of the oven. As for the coffee pods, I scoped out the ingredients and it looks like they just suspended the thc in sunflower oil and sprayed it on the grounds, which I think you could easily do at home if you wanted.

On a recent trip to NY state, we stopped in at a sketchy looking 'members only' shop and saw some of the wildest stuff. Loose bud in jars, loose joints for sale, and the strongest edibles I've seen to date that were near 100% rip offs of notable candy and chocolate brands. In a way, it was some of what I want - the loose buds and stronger edibles - but also a twisted version of what we have here with a lack of regulation and standards. We picked up some ice cream cone candies and for once I got incredibly stoned on edibles (I need around 50-75 mg to get a decent buzz) and didn't break the bank, which was great. But it did make me happy for our stricter packaging laws, especially the branding stuff, even if I do want them to ease up more.

Dear god the price you're getting that stuff for on the grey market is INSANE! I'm happy to pay into the system to keep things going, but that's real tempting....

I'll give the higher vape temps a try - I think I've probably always run a lower temp to not burn the active ingredients, but I'd rather trade that off for more satisfying hits. Good to know that investing in quality yields a good reward too - thanks for the heads up on that!

Holy Hell that sounds like something out of Half Baked - I can understand not wanting to get out of the dressing room, or just having a good sit in the net while everyone misses passes and skates like molasses. How long did a faceoff take to be decided, lol?

Honestly I am not a huge fan of the commercial route North America has taken with legalisation. Candies, drinks, ice cream?! all that shit is too much and really makes it attractive to children. Personally I imagine legalisation as just letting people grow a few plants on their own and doing what they want with it. But I get that the government and society are just chasing that magic dollar rabbit

But I get that the government and society are just chasing that magic dollar rabbit
Candies should be illegal. Society is a farce here. Can't advertise alcohol or cigarettes, but cannabis candy is great for kids!

I am fine with drugs, but you should feel dirty when taking them :P

In all seriousness though, for a lot of young people edibles have become their first exposure to marijuana and a lot of them have very bad experiences with it as a result. The dosages are quite beyond what most of them expect out of something like a single gummie bear. Of course they are little snowflakes and should just lie on the floor and travel through time like I did at that age, but I do think that having to go out of your way to procure something illegally prepares you a bit more for that experience, as opposed to just buying a pretty package and the expected market control and level of safety you imagine all prettily packaged products being subjected to.

And that's just taking into account teenagers with an active interest in experimentation. The idea of having such things at home while having curious toddlers around is honestly frightening. Especially when you take into account the parents possibly being stoned out of their minds. I know we're all model responsible adults up in here, but there are many in society with less stringent behavioral patterns, shall we say.

Ah, a good old bit of Canadian pearl clutching in this thread now.

Do you feel the same way about flavored alcohol? What about sweets in general? Full of sugar and chemicals and you can buy them practically anywhere!

Legal edibles in Canada don't get packaged the same as in the US. They aren't knock offs of popular brands. Just plain packaging. You cannot equate the deregulated market in the US to what's available in Canada in the legal market. Apples to oranges and we as a country aren't responsible for the idiocy the US allows.

Commercial legalization means regulation and standards, which is a good thing. Education and fostering a responsible environment about the substance makes up the rest.

I'm Canada? I'd like to see those numbers. Edible dosages are like 5-10 MG thc per edible

The US is gonna US. Society is a farce in Canada because the US cant get their shit together?

I fully admit I'm lumping the US and Canada together. I understand that will undermine my points. At the same time, I see no reason whatsoever to market THC products in the form of sweets and cute shapes and colours.

I personally don't think the comparison to alcohol products entirely holds up. You drink one Zima or Mike's Hard Lemonade and nothing will happen to you. You need to willfully overindulge in alcohol before it becomes harmful. Controlling your intake is much easier.

The cases I reference from young people I know come from the US. I'm not sure how much dosage levels differ. I haven't been in Canada much post de-regulation and when I have I've been with my kids, so not exactly exploring the THsCene. The oil a friend brought back once though did not exactly strike me as mild. But oil strikes me as a perfectly legitimate form that allows for better control of dosage and awareness of what you are ingesting.

Tesla didn't warn of a decline in sales, they warned of a decline in sales growth, sales are still expected to grow and has been growing. 2024 is still expecting 25-30% growth.

A high interest rate and inflation environment has slowed growth in a number of businesses, it's not unique to EV sales. there's also supply chain issues and all sort of other factors that go into these decisions, but that doesn't mean sales are declining, nor does it mean that the technology is a failure.

Moreover, current EV models mostly compete in the Luxury price bracket market, which means they are really only after about 20% of the total market. As manufacturers move away from 100k trucks and SUVS and refocus their offerings to a broader market, we should see growth pick up. Tesla is working on a 25k model for 2025, Kia and Hyundai are releasing a 50k 3 row SUV, that should open up new markets to EVs in general.

To me, the biggest challenge to increasing sales will be running up against the demographic of people living in Condos, apartments and renting without a garage. They can't install a fast charge, and may not have access to a standard plug, which greatly reduces the cost savings and convenience factors realized by EV. In time, apartments will need to incorporate charging options, same with garden homes, but right now that home charging infrastructure isn't available for a substantial chunk of people,

What's happening here, and south of the border, are completely different landscapes from what I understand. THC Products are in no way marketed to kids in Canada, nor are they packaged in a way that is designed to appeal to kids.

The major difference between the US and Canada? We legalized at the Federal level, which has across the board standards in packaging and safety. In the US, it's still illegal federally, and therefore there are no federal standards for packaging or package safety.

To be clear, I'll provide some examples.

Standard Canadian edible packaging:

1710944367842.png
1710944386228.png
1710944407342.png

Problematic US edible packaging that rips off national brands:

1710944696005.png

Somewhat problematic US packaging:

1710944744699.png
1710944764266.png

I can provide additional examples but I think it's incredibly clear that there are night and day differences in the packaging standards in Canada vs the US.

Can you still honestly say any of the Canadian packaging appeals to children?

As for dosages, again, night and day difference. it's not even close.

10mg of THC is the maximum allowable amount in a package of edibles. This can further break down per unit - say 2 units at 5mg, etc...

The problematic Jolly Rancher package as 600mg in the bag

The somewhat problematic Mindy's tin of candies has 100mg in the tin (5mg/per, 20 gummies in a tin).

I think it's clear that a child would need to get into multiple packages of edibles in Canada (which are child resistant per federal regulation) to get anywhere close to what they can consume in one package of edibles in the US (upwards of 60:1).

As for comparison to alcohol, I think it's absolutely relevant. How is it that I can go to the LCBO and buy a micky of Blue Raspberry Warhead flavoured moonshine @ 20% ABV? I wonder if it even tastes like alcohol.

Does Warheads market their products to kids, or adults?

How child safe are alcohol containers? (hint, not very)

Anyways, I hope this helps you understand my position a little bit more. There is no contest IMO that Federal legalization in Canada has created a safer, more regulated market vs what's going on in the US.

I also hope you and others will avoid lumping Canada and the US together when talking about this stuff moving forward. It's completely different.

What's a hybrid volcano? My cousin had the volcano with the big bags you would fill up with smoke and he would pass them around. Does it work with vape as well as flower?

The booze/weed combo has been my go to for 15 years.

I know lots of friends who do both but can't mix because they get the spins or something.

Whereas I crave bowls when I have a couple drinks. 3 beers and 3 bowls watching a game is much more enjoyable than just 3 beers or just 3 bowls.

I also find weed can help sober you up or straighten you out at the end of a heavy night of drinking...whereas others will get f***ed up doing this.

Also, I find edibles or infused drinks don't do anything. I've taken a pack of 10x25mg and didn't feel it and needed to smoke bowls to feel the wake and bake. It wasn't just a defective product. I've tried 100+ mg in a few mins many times and nothing. But when I take a bowl, it starts to hit me. It's like I need to smoke to activate the edibles, but even then, it's still mild.
