The word “trap” has officially become the stupidest meme word here. Every team that plays tight D is now a trap team. Defence 101 is take away the middle of ice and not let opponent blow through neutral zone. Some people discovering this for first time and thinking it is dirty hockey are in for a long and tedious journey.

offense wins regular season, defence wins championships

How did Vegas take 0 penalties? With the intensity this game was played with it seems impossible.

I counted 5 blatant ignored penalties by Vegas in the last 5 minutes of the game alone. One of which led directly to Vegas's 2nd goal. It's been painfully clear that they get preferential treatment since their inaugural season.

please stop calling Vegas fans trash - there's very few of them on here. it's mostly all fans of teams who are no longer in the playoffs who hate the Habs talking shit

I've attended a game at tmobile arena. Trust me, they're trash.

playoff hockey basically caters to the less talented teams that allows them to get away with anything and everything.

I wouldn't argue that and I love Cloudy. For maybe 1/3rd of the season he was our best defensive specialist. After that it was Martinez without a shred of doubt in my mind. Also Whitecloud's offensive pressure kind of fell off after a while. I'm sure he's only going to improve going forward and long term he's going to be a terrific presence on the backend for this team for years. But right now our defensive stud is Martinez.

I will agree Whitecloud is very underrated though. He's not that far off from Martinez. Vegas' blueline might be their strongest point right now with Petro playing back in his expected form and Holden coming way the f*** out of nowhere going from a 60 game healthy scratch to basically an upper end #4 defenseman.
Martinez is one of the best defensive defensemen in the league. He was last year, he is this year, I mean the guy won two cups not even slightly by accident. But Whitecloud is a tremendous defensive specialist, also elite in that category in this league. His presence on the team really highlights the defensive depth Vegas has.

I'd love to see them continue the level of intensity they have in the 1st period through 60 minutes.
We got the split though and home ice advantage for a b05, all-in-all a good Knight.:sarcasm:

Usually loser fans blame the refs. It's not always you see winner fans do so.

The Habs dominated the first period YET again, except this time they actually scored on their chances. Getting the lead is key for this team, but for f***ing sake could they stop icing the puck when they are not even pressured? The two goals they gave tonight came from that, not from turnovers while trying to be aggressive. I DON'T understand why the Habs REFUSE to keep being aggressive with their forecheck when they go up 2-3 goals. This baffles me to no end. They make the other team look better than they are because it's so easy for them to get inside the Habs zone.

Also, the goals could have been saved by Price, he didn't look great on either. However, I'm not going to go too hard on him because he did make 2-3 incredible saves that evened it out.

I try to never complain about referees, but there is one time in the third period where a Habs player got hit by a stick to the face while in control of the puck. The referee was right next to them. I do not understand that one. I hope this also evens out going forward in the series.

Now the Habs have to keep this up at home. Nothing less than two wins in Montreal is necessary if they want a shot at moving on to the last round.

Oh and to all the people who said Vegas would destroy Montreal. How did those first periods look for you? :) Personally, I was more impressed by Toronto. The Knights are going to need more from their ''top players'' to win this.

Wow. Your really embarrassing yourself here. Teams don't win 9 games in the playoffs by luck. It's called hard work. I understand you don't know what that means because your team thinks they can just dance through everyone to win but please google next time. It's not that hard.

The Habs have shown a tremendous amount of heart. They could be the gutsiest team I’ve seen since the 2004 Flames.

Vegas played the most disciplined game in the history of hockey. Or at least the refs thought so. Pretty brutal officiating tonight but didn't matter, I guess. All tied up!
Look they forced us to sit through two Steve Spott run power plays.... is that not punishment enough?:laugh::laugh::laugh:
