How about we enjoy having a great backup for once? I have no interest in moving Cambot.

Not gunna do the math right now but, he's 26...

"the rules for awarding the Calder were amended so that players could only be eligible if they were under 26 years old by September 15 of their rookie season."

Could he really miss it within the season? That would SUCK.

He turned 26 back in July, so he's a no go

Kidding? He's played like 10 NHL games. Any trade value he has is not nearly worth his current value to us.

exactly...and his value is much lower than everyone here thinks. Schneider was topping Luongo for 3 consecutive seasons and his value was 9th pick.

and if talbot have high value, wtf will be the value of Martin Jones?

Rangers have no one in their system remotely capable of playing backup on the Rangers. If Henrik continues to struggle it will be even worse. Ideally Lundqvist gets around 60 starts a year and his backup 20. If Henrik were to get hurt that's another thing and it's very possible the way players get away with crashing the Rangers net. I'd hold on to Talbot.

Hankie is the Swedish Luongo. And talbot is the Cory Schneider.

Hankie lovers just can't bring themselves to that possibility so they want what the Canucks did and trade our Cory Schneider.

We overpaid the dethroned king like the nucks overpaid Luongo and the isles overpaid DP

One eighth of a season is definitely enough to realistically determine his actual value.

He looks like a solid back-up. That's great for the Rangers. If a year or so from now the kid is still slam dunking his starts and looks like he could take the reigns, that's even better for the Rangers. There will be teams who need a goalie at that point as well. Also, twenty-six is not very old for a goaltender breaking in to the league.

Ten starts, ten. You can't sell high on him ten starts in to his career. No one is that stupid except on HFBoards.

Uhhh, Vancouver had the depth in their system to make that trade. Eddie Lack was knocking on the door of the NHL(who has a .928 save pct in 11 NHL games this year BTW), so they got value for one of their NHL goalies.

NYR, on the other hand, have nobody even remotely capable of taking on backup duties in the NHL. Jason Missiaen has an .864 save pct in 11 AHL games, and has been so bad that they had to sign Dov Grumet-Morris, a career AHL/ECHL goalie. Stajcer has been terrible too, bouncing between the ECHL and AHL, barely breaking .900 save pct in either league.

We would be one injury away from having far and away the worst goalie situation in the entire league.

Listened to the game on the radio, midway through the first intermission the interviewed a Coyotes scout. He slipped and said while talking about how good Cam was playing that Maloney specifically told him that was the guy to watch for him. Changed the topic real quick and obviously didn't elaborate, but it was comical and interesting.

It's a double decoy..coyotes maybe the only team that can swallow hankie's contract..u got the Maloney connection..at this point I would do a mike smith straight up for the dethroned king

C'mon slats..make a bold move..u did great with Gomez after u screwed up..now do the same with hankie

Your condescending generalization in the middle there makes you seem very ignorant. Why is Talbot's 10 game sample more comforting to you than Hank's near decade sample size? Did you miss the winnipeg game? Are you completely unaware of how differently and poorly the team has played with hank in net? If Talbot can steal the job and Hank continues to play so poorly for more than a season than hey we should all be having this discussion about getting rid of Hank. but we haven't reached that point

He's a good goalie. An asset, and I for one would be hesitant to move him without a replacement. A good goalie, and a good guy, his value is worth a lot more to the Rangers than another team.

He should be here for this year and next given that there aren't any tenders pushing for minutes down in the A.

With all that said, he hasn't played enough for teams to pick up on his tendencies or get a read on his weakness. That comes with time and scouting.

1) Schneider was better than Luongo for 3 seasons, not in 10 games

2)What is your solution?

Trade? no ,NTC
Buyout? crazy

Having a good backup on the cheap is important in this league. Why would we trade him?

Unfortunately, if cam continues winning we would have the most expensive backup goalie in the history of hockey. I guess that's not possible. Can it?:sarcasm:

And if Benoit Pouliot continues his PPG pace in the last five games....

See we can all make up imaginary scenarios with little plausibility. You have to be seriously high to think that a 10 game sample size is enough for us to seriously consider Cam Talbot a starter or to throw Hank away after what he's done for us since 2005.

Did you make an account just to complain about Hank?

Just curious.

Maybe if we trade Lundqvist we can come out winners just like the Habs did when they traded an over-the-hill 30 year old Patrick Roy when he was playing poorly.

Kids legit, all be it old, still a good GM has got to sell high on this kid if at all possible. It sucks but you can't hand Henke 8 mill per and then not make him THE MAN. Plus we need help in other areas.

And the kid deserves a bona fide shot as a starter

thoughts?

Good enough to be starter.

Will stick around til he justifies raises that price himself out of back up job, or he wants opportunity to become starter to increase earning potential.

Then, depending upon how well he's played, and status du jour of Hank, and Lundqvist's contract, we will likely have to move one or the other.

But nothing now, and if I am making a hole at backup netminder, I want serious assets from a partner in need.

Everyone is of course right re Talbots experience and value. 8 games is only 8 games.

But, instead of him needing a year+ to establish himself, the Alliaire factor could bump his value.

Alliaire is a legend Talbot is his protege. Slats should deal them as a package! ;)

Hanks NMC don't kick in before next year either, right? I wonder what Hank would say if he was traded to EDM for like Yaks, Nurse and this years first. Then have his 7 year NMC kick in from July 1st. (Or does he have a NTC/NMC right now?)

You got a link for this? A good player never plays poorly.
