As there is no GDT, thought I'd fire up a pre-game thread.

Caggiula makes his NHL debut :amazed:

No AHL conditioning for him, straight into the fire.

...oh and Lander cleared as per EF

Wow, I was sure he plays few games in the AHL after being gone this long and with no previous NHL experience.
But excited to see how he plays and Lucic tonight as well. He played his best hockey in Boston(in his last season) with 2 of the Bostons fastest forwards.

Crazy. I'd think a conditioning stint would be ideal for The Drake. Not sure I like this decision, but I hope he isn't too rusty. Any word on Russell? We are dying for this guy to come back.

Holy ****. It's like Christmas morning. Russell, and Hendo in, useless tit Pouliot out. :yo:

Oilers win this one, I think.

Timing is perfect, should give nice boost for guys.

I guess the plan is to have Eberle, Dra and Pulju as the top9 Rw's?

I don't see them separating Lucic from Mcdavid. They were buzzing last game, and even though he didn't put any points on the board Lucic had one of his best games as an Oiler. Not saying much as he has generally been bad but still.

Possible but Draisaitl (though he's a left shot) much prefers playing the right side of the ice. So I highly doubt he'll be on McDavid's left. I like the fourth line option but otherwise I see it as this:

Lucic / McDavid / Ebs

Maroon / Caggiula / Poolparty

Caggiula / Draisaitl / Potluck

Defense

Lars / Klef
Russ / Sek
Ben / Nurse

Gryba sits because Benning is faster and Dallas plays a more up tempo speed game and they are on their home ice.

Starter - Talbot

Score - 6 to 3 ....Stars

Lucic will be on McD's wing...if Drai gets moved to LW, I would make a solid bet it would be on RNH's line.

That looks really good...load up the top 2 lines, and Russell back?...so effin awesome.:handclap:

I would think Gryba comes out?, as I would rather have Benning, more mobility, and also showed some nice physicality last game.

Wouldn't be surprised to see caggiula have a strong game against today based on adrenaline. I'm interested in how he plays after today. He played well enough to make the team out of camp, but that was 6 weeks ago and he hasn't played any hockey since. Hopefully he can keep up to the pace and if he doesn't the oilers aren't afraid to send him down to get up to speed.

Thumbs way up here. Happy they sat Pouliot too, Slepyshev and Puljujarvi are simply bringing more right now (not by much), and they shouldn't be sat just because of where they are on the food chain. That being said one of them still likely sits regardless. This should be the end of Puljujarvi's time for now, get him to Bakersfield.

You have Caggiula twice. Did you mean RNH?

Refreshing to see some injured guys coming back although Drake should start have started in Bakersfield IMO.

It's about time Pouliot got scratched. he has been beyond useless the entire season and an anchor to every line he has been on, by far the worst Oiler player. I'm very curious to see the lines now.
I wonder who sits now with Russell back, guessing Benning since Russell was Sekera's partner. Lets get this ****ing thing back on track.

That second line is gross...
RNH can't score, Lucic would mope away from Connie, and Slepy is at best a 3rd line player.
That line would get scored on often.

My personal preference wouldd be:

RNH-McDavid-Pitlick
Lucic-Draisaitl-Eberle
Maroon-Caggiula-Puljujarvi
Hendricks-Letestu-Kassian

Edit: Maybe Pitlick and Puljujarvi switch spots. Maybe not.

I think they move Drai to RNH's wing.

Maroon-McDavid-Puljujarvi
Lucic-RNH-Draisaitl
Kassian (can he play LW?)-Cagguila-Eberle
Hendricks-Letestu-Pitlick

Honestly, I don't know. I had a hard time figuring out these combinations. Lots of interesting options. I guess they're sitting Slepyshev? :dunno:
Mclellan should sit Eberle for a game if he wants to send a real message.
