Never mind, the tweet just worked.

So we're talking to Karlsson.
I honestly am warming up to the idea cause we need game changers.
And unless we suck enough to draft really high(which is not the plan right now) we won't get them anywhere but in the trade market.

As I just said on TSN, Sharks continue to try to push the Erik Karlsson trade talks. Believe Sharks allowed teams to speak directly with Karlsson yesterday. Believe Seattle, Carolina and Pittsburgh among teams interested, among others. Leafs interested but not among front-runners

Still driving and on the road so my responses will be slow.

Though, if we do trade for Karlsson I think Francis would try to include Driedger's contract to make the numbers work.

So something like Driedger, Schultz + Draft Picks/Prospects for Karlsson.

I would be surprised if Francis trades for Karlsson but even more so if it's in DAY 1 of UFA.

The longer Karlsson is a Shark the more leverage other teams get. I do see Driedger going the other way but he still need a decent amount of retention.

I don't know.
I think Francis knows that he needs to bring in high end talent and won't get that in the draft with the team being in that 16 - 25 range, unless the Kraken completely fall off the cliff.

I also think he knows well enough(thanks to listening to advanced stats folks) that going nuts in free agency won't get that as well.

Yeah. The fact that Francis didn't bring him back on that makes me think he either thinks Kartye and some of the other kids may be ready OR he is looking for a trade or UFA.

Soucy is rumored to get somewhere around 2-3 years and just over 3M.

Overall I think there won't be a huge market for EK65 unless San Jose is willing to take on some crap contracts.

Yeah. I figured the same. That is still too rich for a 3rd pairing D on the Kraken.
