Saying Monahan isn't capable of creating his own scoring chances is flat out incorrect. He can, and he does.
Can you provide examples maybe I'm just down on him due to his dreadful injured last few weeks.I really don't notice it he uses his shot well but he seems to almost panic when he tries to break into the zone. I don't know maybe I just don't appreciate what he does and either dump it (fine with this) or throw it somewhere randomly and then sometimes he does what I like the most drive the middle and dish out to Johnny or Huds.

So.. Any new predictions? He's seemed to have gotten even bigger, badder and stronger AGAIN, and his release is just getting better.

I used to see him as being a perennial low 30 goal scorer, but I seriously think this kids got potential to put up 40 and be a serious goal scorer for us for years to come, especially with Johnny Hockey feeding him pucks.

As someone who didn't want to draft him for fear of him being a "safe" pick, he just keeps blowing me away.

I think this years totals is what we should expect, but with better defensive play and face off ability. At this point, he's mostly just a triggerman.

I would say for this season, 35 goals is a great target for him. I agree his release looks better which is scary, but my thoughts are that he'll score around the same goals (with slight increase), but I think the biggest improvement we will see this year is his assist total and FO% will improve. Long term, I think he's a 40 goal player.

I have a hard time calling him "just a trigger man", yes he pulls the trigger, but he's got the smarts, poise and tenacity to be where he needs to be to do it, he's not just relying on his shot like "trigger men" usually do. If he can continue to put up 30 goals while being a 2way beast, that's alright with me too

I think his composure and puck management skills are really on the upswing. I think you'll see less of the 'triggerman' and more of a possession controller this year.

Yah to clarify, long term I think he's a 40 goal guy, not this season lol. For this season I'd be more then happy to see him match last years totals while upping his defensive game and FO's.

Okay, instead of trigger man, I'll say finisher. But the rest still applies for me

I'm not sure Monahan will score more goals this year, but I think he will really start showing that he has top end playmaking abilities and his assist totals will climb to 40-45. I also think he takes another step forward defensively and will cement himself as a legit #1

I tried to write something analytical here but its difficult because the top-10 scoring was down last year. It seems that 30+30 2-way centre (what Monahan was last year) is a lot better when comparing numbers from 2014-15 and 2011-2012.

Wonder what Monahan's goal/point totals were before & after Gaudreau joined his line.

I don't remember the exact date the line became official, but it was sometime in late January on-and-off (we saw it during some games momentarily until Hartley went all-in):

Before January:
39 GP
11 G
14 A
Pace:
23G + 29A = 52 Points

January:
11GP
5G
2A
Pace:
37G + 15A = 52 Points

February to April:
31GP
15G
15A

Pace:
40G + 40A = 80Pts

I'll take that!

Considering Monahan had a really bad illness to start the season (I know he was still sick when he scored his first of the year) it's more like

While ill:
8 GP
0 G
2 A
Pace:
0G + 21A = 21 Points
After Illness/Before January:
31 GP
11 G
12 A
Pace:
29G + 32A = 61 Points

January:
11GP
5G
2A
Pace:
37G + 15A = 52 Points

February to April:
31GP
15G
15A

Pace:
40G + 40A = 80Pts

I think, because of his accurate shot and propensity for getting into great shooting positions, he will score 50 goals one year. He will strike it lucky one year where there will be more post and in rather than post and out.

I don't see him with multiple 50 goal years but I think he'll do it once.

I'm on board with that line of thinking, too.

Monahan always surprises me by how patient he can be at times, dude seems to never stress or panic when it comes to decision making. A repeat of numbers this year with improved FO% and I will be satisfied, anything else is gravy.

Monahan will score 50 goals. Then he'll decide his shift has gone over long and will go for a line change.
