I knew he was sitting on top (seems like a lifetime ago). I haven’t been following hockey super closely, so I wasn’t sure if the narrative changed. I hope they do awards before the playoffs. It’d be a fun summer distraction.

Oh yeah, no doubt.

I still hope they win the awards because 1) it helps them get the recognition they deserve (like being in the HoF, Olympic teams, etc), and 2) I know it would mean a lot to them.

I'm just saying I don't think they're as prestigious as they're meant to be because many of the people voting on them are clueless.

This is a good question..

Gainey won 4 in a row by 27 and probably would have 5 or more if the award existed.

Clarke would have 5 noms by 27 if it existed in the early to mid 70s as well.

Lehtinen and Datsyuk did not do it.
