In Dunn's case, if Seattle traded him tomorrow, the team acquiring him would have 3 guaranteed years, not just the two that he is signed for, which would be the case if he were a UFA. That is a minimum of 50% more. Minimum.The players that do that would have resigned as UFAs anyway. If not they're traded like Trouba, Josh Anderson, O'Reilly by Colorado. Or resign for a year and walk like Parise did.
Players have virtually the same amount of control if they choose to exercise it.
If DeAngelos head was screwed on right he’d be looking at 6 million or more based on this contract...
