They let Quenville and Bayreuther walk, so essentially chose nothing from CHI/CBJ. They traded Pitlick for a 4th, MacDermid for a 4th and Vanacek for a 2nd. So they're down 5 from the original 30. Add Wennberg, Johansen, Schwartz and Grubauer puts them at 29, but guys like Cale Fleury, Twarynski, True, Bastian, Cholowski, Daccord won't be with the big club which gets them down to the 23 limit already. I still think a move has to be coming because of the surplus of D, but it's a long off-season and likely to be a minor move.

I think Blackwell will surprise again this year and be in the top-six with 20-30 goals.

Pretty good deal. He's definitely the journeyman type, but he's also extremely versatile, can play center or wing, pretty decent defensively and can still put up some numbers on offense. I forgot he was unsigned to be honest.

A lot of people see value here...I see a guy who will be 31 when the season starts who skates pretty and has a bit of playmaking but has an intense lack of physicality and goal-scoring "bite" who can go huge stretches with being completely invisible on the ice and scores at a marginal third line rate despite plenty of ice time and who has been declining consistently over the last 5 years.

He's fine as a stop-gap player (at center I guess even though he's not a center). But I'd say this could be Johansson's last chance to extend his NHL career before he's back home in the SHL. He was an exceedingly poor and ineffective NHL player last year.

He was brutal in Minnesota. Rarely bought any sort of effort. I wouldn’t even pay him 1.75m for what he brought to the table. Hopefully he returns to form in Seattle.
