Less icetime again.. And a goal. Is he struggling with conditioning or is his line being left out there too long some games?
Probably they just lean toward a slightly hotter line or certain matchups each night? When you have a balanced set of lines you can do that.Less icetime again.. And a goal. Is he struggling with conditioning or is his line being left out there too long some games?
Even if he just turned out to be a PP specialist, the fact that we didn't try him on his natural side when we have one of the worst PPs and GF in the league is so incredibly frustrating as a fan. Not a lot of Preds fans are surprised he's doing well in Seattle.
Still pissed that the Flames didn't grab him. He would be a perfect fit, in an area of need, and they had the cap space.
Seriously, they are playing Lucic with Huby and Kadri. Just dumb.
Suck a bad GM, he should've known that Tolvanen would be waived 2 months later!Chuck Fletcher grabbed Kieffer Bellows instead.
Good to hear those things weren’t just our imagination in Nashville. Lots of us fans saw the same things about the completeness of his game. But the way the organization kept dismissing him, it was sometimes tempting to wonder if we were fooling ourselves. The funny thing is that it seems like he is starting to draw the reputation on these boards as mostly just a potential goal scorer with a big shot.
The goals are really just a bonus. He's playing a bottom six role in Seattle, and his defensive positioning and effort have been outstanding. 75% of his points so far have been at ES.
He really does the little things well.
Still shocked Nashville put him on waivers.
ya, no idea what the preds were thinking. kid oozes potential and has a lethal shot20 points in 28 games with Seattle and congrats to Eeli for reaching a new personal best in points today. Thought it deserves some kind of mention.
I just think it has always been part of Poile's MO to give his coach almost carte blanche in fixing the roster. And our current coach sucks, alas.ya, no idea what the preds were thinking. kid oozes potential and has a lethal shot
Poile has served the preds well, that said it is clearly a time for a new direction there and Barry is a good candidate for the job, I was not suprised at all when it happened and had conversations with a few buddies about why Trotz did not accept coaching offers and I indicated that he was a front office gig instead.I just think it has always been part of Poile's MO to give his coach almost carte blanche in fixing the roster. But I am optimistic that Trotz is going to fix that. Poile has been saying in his pressers how he includes the coach in major decisions, doesn't know coaching, and that down the stretch Trotz is going to be at every game breathing down Hynes' neck. This is a mistake that I am optimistic about the organization fixing moving forward.
Well, historically, if you really look back, Trotz also had some old school "conservative" tendencies as a coach. So I'm not like giddy or OVER-optimistic about the fixes. But at least... there's a chance?
I do believe that Poile thought he was doing "due diligence" on exploring any trade market for ET before the demotion, and he very legitimately believed ET would not be claimed by anybody. He is basically never wrong about these things, because he does have the connections and does do that foot work.Poile has served the preds well, that said it is clearly a time for a new direction there and Barry is a good candidate for the job, I was not suprised at all when it happened and had conversations with a few buddies about why Trotz did not accept coaching offers and I indicated that he was a front office gig instead.
how they let ET walk is beyond me though...
Should have traded for him for sure. Not sure if we had waiver priority early in the yearstill cant believe the Avs with all their injuries to Fwds this season didnt put a claim in on him at worst you release him but he is better than most we have out there in the bottom 6 most nights. SMH plus he is signed cheaply for next year that we will need.
the fact that even when free he passed through everyone to seattle makes me think there was no market for him.Does anyone yet understand why Nashville didn't trade him? For sure there would have been interested for him among the teams that were not as high in the waiver list.
Was Seattle really last on the list? That is impressive. I wonder if the fact that they rather recently gave him a good contract and then he was on waivers made teams think there was something really, really wrong with him.the fact that even when free he passed through everyone to seattle makes me think there was no market for him.
Seattle was a middling team at the time, lots of contending teams would have taken a flyer on him as cheap depth scoring. I think the Jets would've made a claim, but they were further down the list (we claimed Kuhlman the next day if I recall).the fact that even when free he passed through everyone to seattle makes me think there was no market for him.
