16th ranked Pads prospect.

Jake Peavy on MLB Network talking about how Hill and Choi are great humans that will help bring this underachieving team together...

choi is an upgrade over carpenter

i guess they really think 43 year old rich hill and his 5 ERA will put their pitching staff over the top?

I love baseball trades, because a team can acquire another teams 16th ranked prospect and they actually believe they got value.

If this were a hockey trade the 16th ranked prospect would be considered nothing.

Imagine Mikeal Backlund going to a team at the deadline and the biggest piece of the return is the 16th ranked prospect in the acquiring teams system

No offense but you sound like you don't understand them.

The equivalent of getting Mikael Backlund would be getting a very solid, everyday poisition player of value (middle infield, CF, etc.) and can hit pretty good and field well. That kind of player would cost a decent amount.

Rich Hill is a middle aged depth pitcher, Jiman choi is a platoon DH/1B. You take what you get for them

In NHL terms, this trade is like acquiring a veteran backup or 3rd string goalie and a veteran 4th liner who doesn't excel at anything
