Depressing to think this team could still have the following core:

Lucic/Krejci/Seguin
Marchand/Bergeron

Chara-Boychuck
Krug-Hamilton

Rask

No reason to think we wouldn't have Pastrnak either, unless we drafted later than 25 in 2014. I roughly sketched the numbers and this team fits under the cap with a 22 man roster.

Youd have to have about 12 more players at under a million each.

Good luck with that.

they could never afford this

Unless you love Lucic like ladyfan does or have his jersey a realist knows they could not keep him

Boychuk contract the last few years is not going to be good

Team Hamilton wanted out- lot of people knew it (Dom told me 2 years ago he bets Hamilton never gets to a second contract and they blow their way out of town)

Doesn't matter if they could have afforded whatever fantasy land team people are lamenting. The team as it stands today is hot garbage. Sweeney has taken no steps to fill any of the holes they had entering this off season. Instead, he's created more. They still have no elite offensive players, and they're still old as **** and slow as **** on the back end. It's pretty funny that even the armchair experts are calling this collection of players not playoff worthy. They're not. By a long shot.

Seems pretty fair. I'm expecting them to fight it out and hang around that last playoff spot again, and depending on how our luck breaks we could be looking at finishing more toward the middle of the pack or falling lower in the conference.

I am going to assume we could have signed JB for 5 million per year prior to his career year last year for the NYI.

Krejci - 7.25
Lucic - 6.0
Seguin - 5.75
Bergeron - 6.0
Marchand - 4.5
Chara - 6.8
Boychuk - 6.0
Krug - 3.5
Hamilton - 5.75
Rask - 7.0

subtotal - 57.55

Cap Space - 13.85

Pastrnak - 1.0
Spooner - 1.0
Khohlachev - 1.0
Connolly -1.25
Talbot - 0.8
Joonas - 0.8
Ferlin - 0.8
Randall - 0.6
K. Miller - 0.8
L. Arnesson - 0.8
T. Cross - 0.6
McIntyre - 1.0

Subtotal - 10.45

Team Total - 68.00
NHL Cap - 71.4

There might be some overages on bonuses, but I think they are under a million. Anyway, this lineup would work.

Add 1 million you need to cover bonus overage. Add another million for relief during season.

Youre line up overall is lower than whale ****. Worse than what we are going to ice.

You're kidding right? That team is a viable cup contender. It would lay waste to the talentless lineup we are about to roll out in October. Way better on forward, significantly better on defense and equal goaltending.

Im dead serious unless your video game allows one line and two pairing to play the whole game.

Your 'team' blows.

That core costs 61M today for 10 players .The rest of the team would have to cost an average of less than 1M each. It's not sustainable.

With the roster as is this it's a good a guess as any but...............

Not worth paying attention too. Not at this point for sure, and not at any point really.

Much still needs to be seen and rosters will change, injuries will happen, players will have off years, players will have break out years, mid season trades, trade deadline changes things a well, how anyone can pretend they can rank teams is a joke.

Sweeney's spectacle last week as contestant on "Let's Make a Deal" made for good tv, but I agree, we're still far from where we need to be. The Eire Pub crowd will have a good time cheering on the B's as the B's have now adopted a bit of that Dot grit in guys like Rinaldo and Hayes, but I'm girding for another season filled with too many nights falling asleep in the the third. I expect to be abruptly roused from my half nap on occasion as Zac ups his antics, but more often than not, when he's in the box and we get scored on time after time, I expect to be turning it in even before the game is over many nights. By March, Z and at least one, if not two, of our main guys will be injured under Clode's system and it'll be another Providence showcase. I'm predicting a 24th overall finish.

lucic - krejci - conolly/seguin
marchand - bergeron - seguin/conolly
talbot/koko - spooner - pasta
koko/talbot - joonas - ferlin

chara hamilton
krug boychuck
??? miller

i would be happy with those top 3 lines. LW is shaky on 3rd/4th. 4th line doesn't need to play a ton of minutes.

i think this is better than what we may ice this year (based on the roster now)... but definitely not sustainable long term.

either way it is just simply hypothetical. i'm ok with having moved on from the pieces we have, but it would have been kind of nice to not move on from all of them. especially when you look at what they are doing elsewhere, and who we have to fill their places.

Two lottery picks can't wait for TV drawing

San Jose won't be a lottery team. They have decent players. I think they are on par with the Bruins. I'd say they Re both in the middle of the pack.

I see Detroit as being ranked too high, they added Mike Green who is a pp specialist at best and an aging Mike Richards. The key loss is Babcock and I really don't see them making the playoffs as it stands right now.

it was the fluke 2013 cup run.
i wished we got bounced in round 1 like we should have.
we would be a top team for a while if not for tor choking.
