anyone excited for the return of The Expanse this Friday?
My obsession to own the UK hardcovers drastically reduced my desire to read Sanderson's other works. I just prefer their artwork for the dustjackets a lot more.Excellent, thank you. I even have my copy of that still, I think.

This afternoon I was inspired by this thread to finally read what is probably the science fiction novel, 2001 A Space Odyssey. I had already seen the movie so I wasn't going in completley blind, what an incredible book. I read it in one sitting, I was completely transfixed. Most vivid imagery I have experienced while reading. Clarke's descriptions of the vastness of space and the sheer enormity of the stars and planets were of particular note. The slow pace the descriptions grew from a faint pinprick of light into the massive body they truly are helped impart the true scale of what I was reading. Page after page of just a spec, then a chapter later a small disc. Later still a shining mass smaller in appearance than our moon as seen from earth. Then larger even than earth, and so on.
There are some books you read and think that with enough practice you could probably write something of similar quality if not creativity. I think this book took true genius. I can't even begin to truly talk about the book as my mind keeps getting drawn back to his descriptions of space.
It gets very slow at times, but it’s a great book. Don’t waste your time with the sequels. For your next read in the genre, I’d suggest Frank Herbert’s classic, DuneThis afternoon I was inspired by this thread to finally read what is probably the science fiction novel, 2001 A Space Odyssey. My friend throws his dust jackets away. I died a bit on the inside but it's all nonfiction stuff. They don't have the value like fantasy novels do.I love hardcovers but I hate dust jackets.
I have read the first, I have Franks sequels as well, just haven't got around to reading themIt gets very slow at times, but it’s a great book. Don’t waste your time with the sequels. For your next read in the genre, I’d suggest Frank Herbert’s classic, Dune
The first 3 sequels are great. The 4th and 5th are ok. His son’s follow ups are mediocreI have read the first, I have Franks sequels as well, just haven't got around to reading them
No. Starting them fresh is fine. For anyone who is reading Cosmere, I want to ask this, and please be wary of spoilers as you all have so kindly been:
Should I re-read anything of his before I start the Stormlight series?
No. Starting them fresh is fine.
Unless you want to re-read other works, that is.
I haven't read it yet. Been on my To Be Read list forever but Glen Cook and his Black Company series might give that same dark fantasy vibe as The Dark Tower series.
Kevin Hayes.

So what is the exact order to read the Black Company’s series in?
Hey anime nerds, I saw a gif from Lodoss War the other day and it looked really well done. Any streaming sites to watch it on?
Thanks. Of course officially. I cant justify spending $ just to watch one show. I was hoping it was on Hulu or crackle or something. This is where you can watch it streaming (officially).

Part of me hopes the leaks are all true because it would be absolutely hilarious, another part that is shrinking every day would be incredibly sad about what has happened to the franchise. So, uh, something weird is going on in Germany and it involves Burger King and Star Wars.
They put out a video spoiling Episode IX to customers. They have no partnership with Disney or LucasFilm. I haven't watched the video but apparently they match up with leaks that have come out.
I don't know German law but I have no clue why Burger King would do this. They're going to get sued into oblivion by The Mouse, unless the leaks are just wrong and even then they'll still get sued because they've used the characters for a marketing campaign.
Another series I highly recommend is the Otherland tetralogy by Tad Williams.
