Definitely not. Dermott was out with Sandin healthy. Giordano (for now) basically replaces Sandin on the roster, so Dermott would still be on the outside looking in.

The Leafs must have known about the injury to Sandin before trading Dermott. Either a trade is in the works for another depth LD, or Muzzin is close to coming back.

Leafs have cap space dedicated to Muzzin’s return without ltir for Sandin.
