What kind of term and AAV do you think he gets in Florida and/or elsewhere if he puts up a similar stat line of 30ish goals and 70ish points?

Since arriving to FLA a couple years back, Sam has put up:

64 goals
85 assists
149 points in 160 Regular season games.

11 goals
6 assists
17 points in 31 playoff games.

Back to back 30+ goal seasons and nearly a PPG [point per game] in regular season.

He'll be 28 in early November so the new deal won't kick in until he's nearing 29 years old.

Fun fact, since 2020-21, Reinhart is 4th in PPG (power play goals) among all skaters. Above guys like Matthews, McDavid, Pasta, Stamkos and Ovechkin

I read PPG as points per game and was very confused lol.

So he is John Tavares lite. Not sure how much term you want to give a player like that. Watching Florida in the last 2 playoffs he was a pretty marginal layer for them. He will get 7+/7 years from someone but I am not sure I want to to pay it.

Given his age an 8 year at 7 million with a NMC is what id be looking for so he can stay in South Florida with Tkachuk and Barkov. Tax breaks alone and the security as well as being on a good team in an amazing location. Seems like the dream.

Get his cost down via heavy signing bonuses, anywhere between 7-8M is reasonabe. Dream is 6.75M if we give him a buyout proof signing bonus laden contract

After 29 years old. It shouldnt be more than a 4 years contract. This is always tricky after 30 years old ans most of the time, they become rapidly overpaid and the team is stick with them

It should be, but it almost never works out that way.

Top players are going to get term from someone if they hit UFA, it’s just the nature of the beast sadly.

6 x $8M would be a good deal for both sides. I'd jump to sign him for that onto my team, so I know it's a good deal for the team, and Sam can hardly complain that he's locked in until 35 years old at that salary. It's arguably a pretty decent sized team discount.

Sam is great at center too, and can fill in for top 6 centers when they're injured. That's huge.

I'm surprised he's so high in PP goals since '21...Seems like he really likes Florida..My guess is he signs a longer, team-friendly deal with the Panthers

I'd say Forsberg is a pretty good comparable if you are him anyways. Forsberg got 8 x 8.5 with a NMC and I would say that is on the high end. TBH if Florida gets him for much less than that they should be thanking him.

I think Reinhart's a talented player but I do think you have to be careful when extending a player like this. For example, Johnathan Huberdeau was way more productive than Reinhart and his contract is already looking like an albatross.

Reinhart turning 29 when the new deal starts should push down the AAV significantly if it's an eight year deal. Good thing is he isn't reliant on speed so I can see his game aging well. Should be someting around 7.5 million x 8.
