A lot of people are throwing around crazy numbers for him and while other teams would maybe offer them, the panthers dont need to and wont. We have the tax edge, the contract length edge, the winning team edge, and the quality of life edge. That and the contract starts when he's 29. The number will start with an 8 and he'll take it. We're not paying more and he's not leaving.

Yea Florida Edge. Maybe 8.8 for you guys with a full NMC?

If taking the discount better get that NMC.

Haven't seen this posted anywhere yet.

Sam Reinhart’s Magical Year, and Mutually Beneficial Playing Situations

and accompanying clips (EDIT: just noticed this is posted above but will leave it as it goes along with the podcast...)

more fodder for the "product of the environment" side, I think. sam obviously is really good at certain things but those things happen to jive well with his teammates and team style.

I have a feeling we'll be surprised at the contract if/when he signs with us.

congrats on muffin getting 50 goals. i didn't think he had it in him to shoot that much, he always seemed happier to make some physics-denying pass.

Crazy he has more special team goals than even strength.

27 PP goals
5 SH goals
18 ES goals

I'm thinking this season has earned him an extra 500k per year in contract negotiations.
Still think we can get him for $7.75 to $8.25 mil per.
10pts per million paid and will likely get signing bonus incentives, the 8 year term will keep the AAV low.

If we do the big thing this season, no way he leaves that behind to turn into Huberdeau, right? I think he’d prefer to defend the big thing and take a shot at being a part of a dynasty. So let’s do that big thing.

I don't put much stock in what these guys say before UFA. How many players come right out and say "yeah, I want to get the f*** out of here as soon as my contract is up to chase more money. This organization has been great to me but I'm ready to move on now."

I'll believe Reinhart when I see a CONFIRMED WITH LINK that he's resigned.

Every top player wants the Cup. Most will give up a few millions to increase the chances of getting it. Or getting it again. Most realize that the top heavy Toronto model doesn’t work for postseason success. So I expect Rhino to be one of the good guys, not one of the Marners and Matthews.

yeah. zito's cultivated that, right?

if we hadn't seen Gus' deal, you would be right to be skeptical. I think he'll take a little less. the question is really whether zito feels like sam is the right guy to drop that money on now? is there a better value out there for that money in our system?
