Speculation: Sabres Win NHL Draft Lottery

I haven't seen him lately, but I love Liljegren. He brings the kind of dynamic, electric element to the blue line our team is just completely lacking (and has been since Campbell save flashes from Myers). Maybe he's not worth a top 5 pick anymore? But I'd still love to get him.

As for the Chychrun slide comparison... still wish we had drafted Chychrun myself.

Take a look at Cale Makar. Lower league, and playing at UMass Amherst next year, but I think he might be the best defenseman in the draft. Really high hockey IQ, superb skater, great puck handler. He plays more physical than his size suggests, and I think he's a bit stocky for his height.

The risk is in QOC. Does he look great because of competition, and once he gets to college he'll look like a lesser player? Or will he continue to develop, a la Tyson Jost?

I think he's the real deal.
