Sabres forward Matt Moulson has one goal in his last 53 games.

AIR CANADA CENTRE

Puck drop: 7:30 p.m.

TV: TSN4

Radio: TSN Radio 1050

Key matchup: Morgan Rielly vs. Jack Eichel.

As both teams improve over the next few seasons, this matchup will become ever more important. The Leafs will rely heavily on Rielly in all key situations, including playing against the best players on the other team. Eichel, a rookie, leads Buffalo with 19 goals and has taken over lately as the Sabres’ No. 1 centre.

Need to know: The Sabres are 1-6 in shootouts . . . Eichel is second in rookie scoring with 44 points, 15 back of Chicago’s Artemi Panarin . . . Eichel and Sam Reinhart (30) are the first two Sabres rookies with 30 or more points since current Wild forwards Thomas Vanek (48) and Jason Pominville (30) did it in 2005-2006 . . . Sabres forward Matt Moulson, a three-time 30-goal scorer, has one goal in his last 53 games.

Up next: Wednesday, vs. N.Y. Islanders at Maple Leafs, 7 p.m.

I think there's a really strong chance they win one of their next 2 games.

Quite looking forward to seeing who Michalek goes on a line with and how he fares. Hopefully he can find some chemistry going into next year, and we can get some production out of him for the TD next year.

If he's fit and scoring goals, he could generate some decent value.

I actually want us to win a couple of games before the end of the season. These 1 goal losses are nice but when you have at least 4 or 5 of them in a row, it kinda sucks.

NHL daily faceoff lists us as

Soshinkov Kadri Komarov
Grabner Nylander Hyman
Michalek Holland Boyes
Greening Laich Smith

Sparks vs Johnson in net. Sad when a bottom feeder starts their backup against us lol.

I'd rather have Leipsic and Kapanen in the lineup than Boyes and Grabner, but I understand the logic behind the moves.

Scouts claim Matthews is on the same level as Eichel on potential so we get to see today a similar type player and can imagine having one in our line-up next year with a lottery win.

Leafs are 72-113 vs. the Sabres all time. Although in their last 20 meetings, they're split right down the middle with 10 wins each.

But it's the Sabres, their worst nemesis out of all other 29 years in the league. Buffalo wins.

Be nice if one of the vets sat for one of the kids when PAP comes back against the Isles. Rather not see Hyman Nylander or Soshnikov get sent back down.

I believe Matthews and Eichel are on the same level potential wise but I believe Matthews can play more of a greasy game.

Yet in another thread you'd like to move him for Strome?
