I was wondering if this was coming when I was watching the streams of the development camp and he was everywhere with the prospects. clearly the organization thinks highly of him. youngest head coach in the AHL as of today.
tbh I don't fully understand how this works between Charlotte (owned by Michael Kahn) and Carolina (owned by Tom Dundon). I know Vellucci was assistant GM of the Canes at the same time as head coach of the Checkers, but all the news reports say that the Canes have hired Warsofsky. not sure how that is supposed to work. all of this to say, maybe he's not the lowest paid coach in the history of the world? I have no idea.Lowest paid head coach in the AHL today you say?
Hopefully he stays for a while im tired of this revolving door for a coach they have had down there. Would be nice to get some stability.
Took South Carolina to the Kelly Cup Finals his first year as a head coach in 2017, signed as an assistant with Charlotte last year.I’m obviously living under a rock, who is this guy? Was he an assistant in Charlotte?
And one other random question. The Canes ‘sign’ the AHL players, so is Waddell doing those negotiations too or is it the Checkers GM. And if Waddell, does Kahn get a say in the salary since he’s the one paying it?
yes he was assistant coach in Charlotte last season. when he was hired last summer he was the youngest coach hired in the AHL in 18 years. I believe his focus was on the PK (Checkers went from 24th in 2017-18 to 1st in the AHL last season) and the defense.I’m obviously living under a rock, who is this guy? Was he an assistant in Charlotte?

But isn't an AHL coach, by definition a revolving door? It's typically a stepping stone for guys that want to move on to bigger and better things, no?
Does it really matter if the players are constantly shuffling either up to the NHL or throughout the minor leagues? If the coach is really good....he’s moving on soon.Hopefully he stays for a while im tired of this revolving door for a coach they have had down there. Would be nice to get some stability.
