If Kessel ends up in Edmonton then it looks like Holland is trying to add Cup winning veterans to this team. Now what Cup winning goalies are available? Holtby? Murray?
Past their prime, older players without much left to offer who have a cup under their belt.

It's GMing time!

It's treating a team like it's your mid life crisis, but instead of getting new shiny things, it's showing the old boys can still hang!

If it meant signing a high end UFA like Hamilton or Landeskog, would anyone do Neal + Yamamoto + Bear for a pick from Seattle? We could probably also add another 2-3M piece with the cap savings too.

on this side of the Pond the scuttlebut is still that Larsson wont be an oiler this fall

They won’t announce a deal until after the expansion draft so we don’t have to protect him

It’s all about a word that rhymes with pampering

I’m beginning to suspect it could be the same situation with Klef

Maybe if it's Hamilton but not Landeskog. We can't lose Bear unless we have another top 4 RD available and that's even assuming Larsson is back.

All three of them?

So we’re gambling our whole future on the slim chance we can acquire a top end free agent that plugs one of the two holes we just made?

Pass.

Doubt this is the case with Klef. Keith proved that Klef playing isn't likely or Edmonton's cap gets real tight real quick.

Gambling our whole future? The Oilers future doesn’t hinge on Bear and Yamo IMO. It wouldn’t be a case of doing the deal and hoping. Something would have to be in place. Say it’s Hamilton and a bottom 6 forward like Cizikas/Kuraly/Nosek. You don’t think we are better with Hamilton and one of those guys instead of Bear and Yamo?

Klef? The only uncertainty for him to return are fans and media

The Oilers have known for a long time his shoulder is crippled w/ arthritis

Holland was just being nice when he said there's a chance, and that's cuz stranger things have happened, there will always that 1% chance, but as far as brass is realistically concerned....he is toast

Danualt would be amazing. That would help the d a tonnnnnnn

Would be a dream guy to have as a middle 6 C, giving actual flexibility to play McDavid with Drai and still have a useful 2nd line, not having to play Nuge C. If you have McDrai down the middle, you can have a true shutdown 3rd line using him as well.

Unfortunately, think he's looking for low end #1C money.
