Draft and stash
Brynas goalies are usually good investments.
HP called him potentially one of the sleeper goalies in the draft. I can't even say anything. GOALIE GOALIE GOALIE. Develop, my child. Develop.
All I know is that if his name is Ersson, that means at one point in time someone had the name Er... and that's kind of funny.
Er on the side of caution?
All your goalie are belong to us.
Even funnier if you replace the E with an A.
draft another goalie, F it. just keep drafting them until one sticks, and then draft more.
He’ll be at the summer showcase for Team Sweden.
Balloch is a Goalie guy for those that don’t know him. I suspect the high reward section will go over well, but won’t pretend to know a thing about the pick.
Ersson is a modern-day butterfly goalie, who possesses a calm demeanour and fluid movement. His fluidity allowed him to come out of his reverse V-H or drop into it before most short-side shot attempts could get through. His ability to transition from a butterfly to a standing position and visa-versa is impressive. Furthermore, his butterfly is technically refined and this allows him to seal it shut on most shot attempts, as well as being able to absorb rebounds at a high-rate. It works in combination with his plus puck-tracking skills, giving him the ability to square up and stop the initial shot. It’s rare to see Ersson have to scramble since he doesn’t over-commit on most shot attempts and his rebound control reduces his need to make recovery saves.
NHL Draft 2018: Philadelphia Flyers select Samuel Ersson with 143rd overall pick
Pretty good value in the 5th I think.
Eliasson went 84th and if I were a betting man I like the chances of Ersson having a better career. He will be a solid SHL goalie at worst I think.
ERSSON, SAMUEL | 2016 NHL Draft Prospects
CSB had him 7th of Euro Goalies
Goalies are all head cases, like closers in baseball, safety in numbers.
Just look at the NHL, 1st rd to 6th/7th rd, they don't follow normal distributions.
I'm all for Ron picking the best bargain each year and using at least one pick.
More goalies is always good. Unless you draft 9 in one draft, that might be bad.
or if you draft 1 bad/bust goalie a year for 9 years
I guess spending a 5th round pick on a goalie in the draft is cheaper than the 3rd-4th rounder that you would have to spend on some other organisations' meh goalie prospect when they are let go if they don't exactly pan out, and there is a slim chance you get more
I will post the highlights when they are up.
Highlight at the bottom... just above where they embedded my tweet to the website!
So, Ersson is already a better goalie than Elliott or Mrazek?
Any chance he makes the WJC? The mocks in the International section never have him listed.
Just curious of your opinion.
He’s a late birthday so this is his last year eligible, that might help his cause being older.

That’s probably his competition in the links above. Some of those guys have a lot of experience with Team Sweden to this point. Eriksson-Ek was the third goalie last year.
He will likely make it as the 2nd or 3rd goalie going off the u-20 teams so far over last year.
