If Blash is going to insert Pulks into the line up for the PP, he damn well put him in a position for the one timers. Far too many times I've seen Pulks on the PP and he would be on the goalies left hand side. He's not a weapon on that side. When he's on the other side he at least has a chance at a 1T. Also, he should create more space for others because the opposing team might start cheating towards his way. That plan all goes to **** though if he's playing on the other side.

In saying that, I would much rather see Mantha on the PP than Pulks any day of the week.

Expecting a big push back from the Bolts, if the Wings play like they did on Sunday they have a good chance at winning and if they don't it could get ugly. If they want the win they need Mrazek to play well, keep the Johnson line shut down, and keep driving to net looking for another garbage goal.

Also a PP goal would be nice but that seems impossible for the Red Wings to do.

I don't want Pookie in because it will probably mean we go back to 3 lines with Glendening on all of them and 2 random guys as "specialists" with 3 minutes of ice time.

Having a real 4th line is nice.

IF the PP can click, we win 3-2

IF the PP doesn't click, we lose 2-1.

I'll be an optimist and say we win 3-2 in OT.

Mantha should absolutely be considered against Tampa. Tampa has too much size for Pulkkinen.

Team has me believing they can win tonight, hopefully they don't break my heart.

Predicting a goal for Nyquist and a big game for Mrazek.

It's time for Nyquist to show something. It's look like he's scared when it comes to the playoffs. Has been totally useless in playoffs so far. Last time I remember him doing something good wa against Chicago... And that's long time ago.

I thought Nyquist has been visible. He's had chances, but hasn't buried them. He's been better than Tatar in my opinion.

He did some good work on Z's goal last game, that goal doesn't happen without Nyquist.

I'm a huge fan of the holly slapper, but I don't think playoff style hockey is suited for him right now in his career. Keep the lines as is. Pulkinen isn't the answer on the PP. They just need to shoot more: all 10 guys from PP1-2 are perfectly capable of blasting a shot on net. No need to bring him in.

I agree with you here.

Nyquist hasn't been able to score the few times he's not firing off an opponents stick, but when he has the puck he has been creating some space and keeping decent control before passing it off, or shooting it at a skate/stick.

The problem with Nyquist is his shot. He takes too much time to shoot and most of the shots are weak.
The goalies stops his shot with a mitten.

opponents aren't going to take pulks seriously until he learns how to hit the net

Agree with others, the shot isn't whats holding the PP back, it's the execution and slow puck movement that's killing it. They really need to bury 1 or even 2 PP goals tonight. They go scoreless again and I highly doubt they pull off the W. At what point does Tampa's coach not even worry about going on the PK? The Wings' unit has been atrocious and he could easily tell his players to play as aggresive as possible, why worry about the PP? Now I know that's not a great way of thinking but come on, it's definitely not something they are worried about and that needs to change.

I don't understand why Mantha even came up a few weeks ago if Pookie was an option. What has changed between then and now? If Pookie had started instead of Mantha maybe he would have shown something by now and we could keep him in for a good reason. As it is he's basically a complete unknown who we're considering throwing headfirst into the fire.

Why wouldn't they just try AA first? I mean both could realistically play of course, but it's just weird that someone who's had quite a few snipes and can do things around the net hasn't been tried out on the 2nd unit yet, considering what a mess it is. Could probably contribute quite a bit to zone entries aswell.

I agree completely. That's just a mystery. Makes no sense.
