Weird thing with this series is the team that has scored the first goal has lost 4/6, including the last 3.

That won’t stop us from panicking if they score first. And conversely we won’t feel safe even if they can somehow get say a 3 goal lead.

According to the NHL, the team that scored first in Game 7 has won the series 75% of the time…as I mentioned in the NHL thread, the Pens should take a page from EDM and Tampa and play a tight defensive game, trying to win a 1-0 or 2-1 game…that’s how they beat Tampa and the Caps in 2016 and 2017, although I’m not sure we have the goaltending for that anymore lol

Agree, but yeah easier said than done. Also it’s a fun stat but idc that the Pens are 6-0 in road game 7’s… hell I think I saw the Rangers are something like 6-1 or 7-1 in home game 7’s. And these are mostly old rosters of players long since retired anyway.

Against all instincts and feel for the game, I think they’re going to win tonight. It will be chaotic and ugly, but they will win.

Statistically you would expect us to win this series. The team that wins game 1 wins most of the time. The team that goes up 3-1 wins most of the time. So there's that. Also losing three straight games in the playoffs...not so common.

He did. He won an ot then won 2 after that what are you talking about? Its not his fault our pk sucks ass.
3.65 GAA and a sub .900 doesn’t give you much of a shot unless your offense puts up 7 to demoralize the Rags in back to back games.

it’s probably common when your goaltending is regularly sub .900%…lol

I accidentally closed out this page while I was typing up a response. Anyway, I picked the Rangers in 5 so I'm surprised the Pens took it to Game 7. Partly because the Rangers owned them in the regular season, and also because the Pens dominated them in most of these playoff games...

Here are my series +/-:

++Crosby
++Guentzel
+Pettersson-Marino pairing
+Zucker
+Carter and Blueger on faceoffs

=Malkin
=Matheson-Letang pairing

-Domingue
-special teams
-dumb penalties & losing focus
-Carter's overall play
-Blueger's production

incomplete: Dumoulin, Rakell, DeSmith, Jarry, DOC

if not listed, throw them in the '=' category
