He has to play. Waiver rules counts only played games.

Those caphit figures count only days in the ~180(?) day season.

As someone who has suffered from chronic back problems for decades I Unfortunately have little hope that Helm will ever play again, though I hope I'm mistaken, for his sake as well as the team.
