I don’t see how nylander for kreider makes us any better.

Kreider is a force on the power play where a lot of his contribution doesn’t even show up on the scoreboard. Ask Zibanejad how many goals he’s scored this year because CK was standing in front of the goalie perfectly.

We need a nylander in addition to having a kreider on the left side not in place of

Nylander is 22. Kreider is turning 28 in 2 months.

Nylander

Thats 6-10 years of a great 1-2 punch.

Is there a FA you're not interested in?
Youre more than welcome to hit the ignore button rather than spit your sarcasm.

You made your point, you dont want to sign Free Agents and you want to tank. Doesn’t mean that will happen, team will still be operating. I know that will disappoint you.

I see what you’re saying but Nylander turns 23, literally the day after Kreider turns 28. They are 5 years apart.

I should have checked his birth date, but the point still stands. I would much rather pay Nylander for the next 6-7 years than Kreider. He is also a better player.

Do you only read the stuff that makes you angry? I had a post where i explicitly stated I would be all for signing guys who are young and won't anchor this team once they should realistically be ready to compete.

Hagelin sucks. There is literally no justification for signing him. You have no concise plan for this team other than to sign guys. EK, Panarin, Hagelin. Who else?

And I can't be disappointed by this team, because I actually expect them to do some sort of half foot in, half foot out, as they have always done. They'll probably trade Hayes and Zucc, only to sign Panarin. Thus, we'll be mired in mediocrity next year and for the foreseeable future.

I would be happy to be pleasantly surprised, and see them actually stick to the plan for once, but I would be a fool to assume that will actually happen.

Assuming we do some of what you say, I'm sure in 2-4 years you'll be complaining about how their contracts are anchoring the team and holding us back from winning a cup.

Rinse. No cups. Repeat. Thus is life as a Rangers fan.

Poor Hags, talk about being a journeyman. But at least he picked up the Cup twice with the Pens.
Underrated, still only has a 3.5M cap hit, and now shipped off again for a 3rd round pick.

Rangers should of dealt Hagelin for a 3rd when they had him..........moving up in the 2nd was basically useless.........they gave up a 2nd............yes I hated that deal lol

Hagelin signed his 4 year contract in the summer of 2015 with Anaheim. He is on 4th team since signing that contract. The Penguins retained $250,000 in the Pearson deal. LA is retaining 50%. Three teams are paying Hagelin. Pittsburgh. Los Angeles. Washington.

Not angry. By any means. Could careless about your whining about the team doing the same things for over 20 years even though we had managed to make a SCF and (2) ECF appearances with the last group we put together, which btw did not include any top 10 1st round picks. We had made the playoffs for 8 consecutive years in that time.

Sign young players? That is what you will allow for? Sign all young players. Let’s talk when those “young” players hit free agency to be signed. And what constitutes a “young” free agent? Under 25? f***iny laughable and unreasonable. Got it so we should not sign anyone at all to supplement all the young kids we have. OR sign crap veterans on shorter term deals because they will cost les BUT will have us be the Oilers where the young kids never experience winning and get abused year in and year out during the crucial years of their development. Bring on the Patrick Maroons of the world!

Oh wait we can offer sheet players! Lets offer sheet Marner and forfeit multiple 1st round picks! That will certainly help the rebuild! Offer sheet Marner or Laine. Thats it! Thats the plan. How could I have not seen this is the path all along.

Your guess as to what the right path is as good as anyones here. You have one team to lean on that truly tanked and had success and that was Pittsburgh, who was literally gift wrapped Crosby by Bettman to save that pathetic city and franchise. One Example.

I wont complain about the contracts. Just like drafting there is risk involved. Im not upset about the Staal contract. Wasnt upset about Richards. Not upset about Shattenkirk. Wasnt upset about Stepan or McDonagh either.

I sometimes miss the days when this board would spend pages debating about whether Hagelin was likely to net 20-25 goals and play on the second line.

Then I put the Exus pen down.

So a 6th round pick is worth Hagelin playing 50% of two playoffs rounds?

If my math is correct, that means a 2020 7th round pick would be worth O'Gara not playing in the playoffs at all.
