Will Kunin and their 1st be coming with him?

I have no idea on the return, nor is there any rumor that I know of linking the two teams.

More just they seem like a team that would go after Hayes as a UFA, so maybe they want to trade for him.

So do the GM's have some outline of a deal in place? For instance are the Stars offering Guryanov and a 2nd and Gorts says I want Robertson and a 1st for Zuke? Then do they call them and say give me your final offer? So are all the initial offers in and then they improve them as we get closer to deadline? Anyone have some experience or knowledge on the process?

I wouldn't expect anyone who consistently posts here to have experience with making deadline trades, no.

It`s nutty by Apple by the way, because they lock my sim card after an iphone update - it has been like that since I bought it. I wonder what will happen if Microsoft and Windows 10 updates had similar issues..

- Anyway what will Jesper Fast and Vladislav Namestnikov return if they get moved in a value package?

Looking at the second half of the season so far from game 42 through 58 and moving to the deadline. So this is what they've been doing:

Zibanejad---17gp-15-9-24-4pm +7 57SoG 5-3-8 pwp--pro-rated that's 120 pt. season. He's on fire.
Zuccarello--16gp--7-16-23-4pm +10 48SoG 1-5-6 pwp--he's right behind Z-bad and it's not a wonder to me that the Rangers are thinking of re-signing him. He's on fire too.
Kreider-----17gp--4-10-14-4pm +6 46 SoG 0-1-1 pwp--goals are a bit down but his points are consistent with his season so far. He also doesn't get credit for a lot of goals that happen.
Hayes-------10gp--4-5-9-0pm -3 29 SoG 1-3-4 pwp--he's heading for a 60 point season and anyone who thinks a late 1st is enough for that is just wrong.
Buchnevich-16gp--4-5-9-0pm -4 28 SoG 3-1-4 pwp-powerplay is helping him a bit and he's contributing kind of regular again. Still he's capable of more.
DeAngelo---14gp--2-6-8-23pm +10 30SoG 0-2-2 pwp--Tony's been playing really well--whether you like +/- or not +10 over 14 games for a mediocre team is damned good.
Shattenkirk-17gp--1-7-8-8pm -2 39SoG 0-4-4 pwp--he's playing somewhat more to expectations lately.
Vesey--------17gp--3-4-7-6pm -3 23SoG 0-1-1 pwp--not awful but not particularly great numbers. He is hitting more--he does more pk too.
Chytil--------16gp--4-2-6-0pm -4 29 SoG 1-12 pwp--an up and down year but very good for a 19 year old.
Strome-------17gp--3-3-6-10pm +2 23 SoG 1-1-2 pwp--he's the 3C now.
Nieves--------17gp--1-5-6-4pm -3 9SoG--not bad for a 4C
Fast-----------16gp--3-1-4-14pm +1 17SoG--he's been playing hurt for a while.
Namestnikov 17gp--2-2-4-2pm -4 32SoG--of the forwards he's got the most hits (40) over this period. Getting shots but he's forgotten how to score goals.
Staal----------17gp--0-3-3-12pm -5 19SoG
McQuaid-----16gp--2-0-2-21pm +4 15 SoG--been steady--his 45 hits leads the team over this period.
Smith--------11gp---0-2-2-4pm Even 9SoG
Howden------8gp---0-1-1-0pm -6 8SoG--he'd been mired in a long slump before being injured. He'd kind of lost the thread IMO.
Pionk---------11gp---0-1-1-11pm -4 25SoG-his offensive numbers have fallen off a cliff. He's another player who seems to have lost confidence.
Skjei----------16gp---o-1-1-0pm +3 21SoG--defensively he's been better--offensively he's not on the radar.
Brickley--------2gp--0-1-1-0pm +1 2S0G
Claesson-------3gp--0-1-1-2pm Even 4SoG
Lettieri---------2gp--0-0-0-2pm -1 2SoG--I think Vinni could be an NHL'er one day. He seems to have the AHL figured out anyway.
Lindgren-------3gp--0-0-0-6pm -1 3SoG--wasn't bad when he was up
McLeod-------10gp--0-0-0-11pm -5 4SoG--he's gone.

3rd or okayish prospect each. I don't think any team will get both because that would imply a playoff team has two top 9 holes which is unlikely.

Teams have done their due diligence and have made offers and received asks. They are now sorting that out. The GM has to balance a) how many similar players could I deal for and b) is the pain worth the gain. Then you think about compromises. e.g What about a 2nd and Robertson? Once you find common ground, then you work on refining the deal and getting over the finish line. e.g Do I need to add a 6th to balance the deal out?

Someone speculated in an earlier thread that teams know the players they are getting and recent performance doesn’t matter that much.

Wrong.

Teams want to know how players are playing right now. No one is going to trade a first because a guy had a few good games but look at Zuccarello, who is a rental, and how well he is paying right now. That matters. That’s why buildings are filled with scouts at this time of year. In addition to the bodies you see at the rink, plenty of other teams are watching on video. Several of the more tradeable Rangers are playing their best hockey of the season. That matters.
