its BOTH, smh :amazed:
He's not going to see any jail time in Canada on a first offense. He could if found guilty be forced to pay damages; forced to do community service; receive enough demerit points to suspend his license and have this stain on his driving record permanently.

A few years back, didn't a Bill flee the scene of an accident on Chippewa and duck a possible DWI by avoiding the cops for 24 hours?

Haven't lived here too long,(bout 3.5 years officially) but if we're talking about lawfulness it isn't the correct thing but saves the guy from a lot of punishment and such. It probably happens but the odds of one escaping that seem pretty slim

AM980 London News ‏@AM980News - Another delay in Buffalo Sabres forward Ryan O'Reilly's impaired driving case at #London, Ontario courthouse.
It's been put over until October 22.

LaxSabre - Ryan will be able to attend - if he decides to - as the Sabres won't be traveling that day.
(Sabres have home games on Wednesday, October 21 vs Toronto and Friday, October 23 vs Montreal.)

@BNHarrington - O'Reilly was arrested on 7/9 on DUI and leaving scene. Case has now gone through three delays.

Sabres center Ryan O'Reilly told reporters on Wednesday he had no idea if there was a resolution coming today to his legal issues.
As it turns out, there was none. In hockey parlance, O'Reilly is now at a hat trick of delays.

According to radio station CFPL-AM in London, Ontario, O'Reilly's case was pushed back today to October 22, meaning it will still be lingering well into the Sabres' season.
It's the third delay in the case. The London Free Press reported O'Reilly was simply represented by counsel and was not at the courthouse.

O'Reilly did not travel with the Sabres today to St. Paul, Minnesota for their game tonight against the Wild.
He's likely to be in the lineup Friday night against Columbus in First Niagara Center in the team's home exhibition finale.

Remind me to not get arrested in Canada... All these delays are annoying as ****

This is actually a strategy used by the defendant's lawyer. If you keep dragging things out, you increase the chance that any witness or officer whose testimony is critical is not available or their recollection becomes questionable.

Center Ryan O’Reilly’s impaired driving case in Ontario has been delayed for the fourth time, according to CFPL-AM.

The case was put over this morning until Nov. 5, according to the radio station. The case was also moved on Aug. 20, Sept. 10 and Oct. 1.

O’Reilly, 24, was arrested July 9 and charged with impaired driving and leaving the scene of an accident after his pickup truck allegedly hit a Tim Hortons in Lucan, Ont. He signed the biggest contract in Sabres history – a seven-year, $52.5 million extension – July 3.

The Sabres host Tampa Bay on Nov. 5.

O’Reilly didn’t practice today.

You know, it would totally be a Buffalo thing if the league decided to suspend him after the verdict is reached.

It would be a Buffalo thing if there is only 5 games left in the season and the Sabres need to win 3 of them to make the playoffs, and then the league suspends him.

How many more times until they just dismiss it? I don't really follow celebrity court cases so I don't know how they normally deal with the constant delays.

I doubt it gets dismissed.

A plea bargain is more likely.

Constant delays are par for the course in our court system. It's not happening because he's a celebrity. Although, the fact that he works in another country and in a job where he's constantly traveling could be impacting things.
