Maatta and Pouliot were shining. Those are the only two that really stood out. Harrington aswell to a lesser degree. With Depres already on the big club, solid core of young dmen in the pens pipeline.

Disagree, Pouliot wasn't very good for an OFD, he didn't create much. Maata great, skating well and good positioning. Harrington does his job well. Dumoulin was meh.

Forwards... There was pretty much no one.

Jaimie Devane: [An enforcer with IQ. Both Orr and McLaren's contracts are up this season, and at least one of them won't be back, because this guy will be there. Had a nice fight.]

I like this guy.

Honestly think he could have played a handful of games last season and not been out of place.

Was at the game last night (and will be going tonight most likely). Here's my recap.

The Ruperts: Easily the most noticeable guys out there. They are spark plugs. Hit everything that move, but also have a decent eye for the net. Considering these guys are with the Hunter's, I could see them at the 3rd or 4th line in the NHL.

Brad Ross: Another guy I was impressed with. Hit everything that moved. Needs to work with Underhill on his skating, and needs to improve his offensive game, but should turn out to be a Darcy Tucker lite.

Tyler Biggs/Frederik Gauthier: These guys were invisible. Biggs made a couple big hits, but that was it. Gauthier was invisible. Not happy with these two.

Carter Verhaeghe: Would be interested to see the faceoff numbers. It seemed like he won every faceoff he took. Has good speed, and creates energy. He is still a ways away, however he could be a faceoff specialist for us in the future, should last night be any indication.

Stuart Percy: He seems to be more NHL ready then we think. Just watching him, I saw NHL defenseman written all over him. I was more impressed with him last night then I was Scott Harrington. Percy has incredible hockey IQ, and knew where to be at all times. I could see him making a push for the team as early as next season.

Matt Finn: A lot of good in his game. Wasn't a standout guy, but wasn't bad either. Hopefully I can get a better look at him tonight.

Chris Gibson: A big goalie. Was impressed with his game tonight. Can't really blame him for any of the goals really. Saved the first 3 shots on the second goal, first goal was just a nicely positioned shot by Harrington, and the 3rd one was just the perfect shot... I doubt Reimer or Bernier could have saved that. Overall, he seems to be good with the puck, and has excellent positioning. Watch out for the kid this year.

David Broll: An enforcer with IQ. Both Orr and McLaren's contracts are up this season, and at least one of them won't be back, because this guy will be there. Had a nice fight.

Jaimie Devane: See David Broll.

Petter Granberg: Was solid, amazed with his size. Other then Stuart Percy, was our best d-man. He's a big kid, but won't be skated by either. Can handle the puck as well. Good hard shot. With a good camp, could be a contender for a spot on the team, possibly this year.

Connor Brown: Should be fun to watch this guy develop with McDavid. Remind me a small bit of Mike Richards. Has skill, but goes into the dirty areas. Likes to have the puck on his stick.

All the main guys I wanted to point out, if you'd like my opinion on any other player, feel free to ask. I will be able to get a better look at more players (Rielly, MacWilliam, Leivo, McKegg... stupid Leafs had to scratch all the players I really wanted to see :/ ) tonight.

I disagree about Biggs, he was skating, hitting and creating chances, I was also dissapointed with Granberg.

I didn't like Biggs (I am one of his bigger supporters too), he had a couple hits, and his skating looks improved, but he wasn't impressive last night.

Granberg was quiet, but thats his game. He had some good hits, and didn't get caught out of position at all.

I respect your opinion though.

Edit: Perhaps Invisible was the wrong word for Biggs. Gauthier yeah, but not Biggs. Biggs was lackluster, average at best.

I think it's okay for Gauts to be invisible. I'd rather he be invisible then be in the spotlight for glaring mistakes.
He's young, and nowhere near ready. This is more to give him a taste of what to work towards.

Named my new kitten Percy this past week. Hopefully Stuart keeps impressing - Wouldn't be surprised to see him in the mix next year.

Hopefully the concussion issues are behind him.

Jaimie Devane: See David Broll.

Orr and McLaren both signed two year contracts during the off-season...

Jamie Devane played in my house league (Tyke Blue) for Port Credit like 15 years ago lol I remember him being the best player back than on the team he would score goals like crazy when we were little kids

I played shinny with Jamie Devane back in high school while he was still with Plymouth. Awesome guy and I am glad he's doing well. I'd love to see him with the big team.

I liked Herzog, Ross and Verheaghe (however you spell it), they were all gritty and buzzing in the offensive zone.

Biggs looked strong and fast, was able to make some creative plays, been a good showing from him so far.

Percy had a great showing and is a character player. He has tons of leadership qualities, along with defensive acumen and puck movement abilities.

Who is Yuen? He looks good.
