65, 56 and 50 in 72 in a league that scored less goals. Kovalchuck at 52 and Iginla had 50 when Ovi had 65.

Please
Weak. Ovi had more than 1.5 times on the PP. I’ll admit his slapper is better, good enough? Go pour your salt somewhere else

Please

Ovechkin had .79 goals per game in his 65 goal season and Kovalchuk had .66

Matthews has .87 goals per game and Draisaitl has .70

Edge Matthews.

People are running out of adjustments that favour Ovechkin for peak.

Fun fact:

Matthews has as many even-strength goals this season as Ovechkin had in his career year (in his 65G season). Matthews is on his 67th game.
It’s almost like 21-22 and 06-07 were different games

Look at that. That's a pretty strong argument.

60+ goals is cool but Matthews needs to score in the playoffs or it really won't matter. He hasn't been good in the playoffs

Not all of his playoff series should be lumped together. He’s had a couple good and a couple not nearly as good. I think he was healthy for most of them, but I would say, last year vs the Habs it was abundantly clear his wrist was still a problem.

He actually wasn't healthy for his last two (a lot of players aren't healthy come playoff time to be fair) but in a month or so that won't matter. He'll be a man on a mission.

I wonder what the detractors will use once we finally get past the first round. I’m sure they have a list prepared

Just a reminder that McDrai have seen 8 playoff games in the last 4 seasons. At least we make em work for it.

Good stuff for Matthews and USA hockey as a whole.
Proud of Kreider too. If he gets 50+ I'm still ecstatic. Also looks good for USA hockey.
