The song that boosted fame for Dire Straits is now censored and edited on the radio. I never thought much of the song as it was pandering to MTV but censorship is worse.

Bon Jovi going in over Priest is the biggest travesty since Jethro Tull won the Grammy for best metal album. Also the fact that bands like Maiden or Slayer aren't even considered is an even bigger joke.
Rolling Stone Magazine never liked Metal or Prog thus they have been overlooked for induction over the years. Since Jan Wenner has taken a step back the last few years to spend time with his boyfriend, a lot of the bands he personally disliked like and was blocking like Deep Purple have gotten in but Metal has still been pretty much overlooked.

This Hall is a sham and has never been any thing other than The Rolling Stone Magazine (a worthless piece of tripe of a mag) Hall of Fame. Wenner putting his neighbor Randy Newman in over Deep Purple and Judas Priest pretty much sums up the lack of validity of the hall.

latest developments are that neither Mark Knoppfler not his brother David will attend and it sounds like it is like the Steve Miller complaint where it is not about the Artists but just to make money for the Hall. Depending on the source it sounds like the Brothers were supposed to pay their own way and other stuff and only get a two free tickets to the event

Dire Straits to Play Rock Hall Induction Without Mark Knopfler

Wouldn't be the same without Pick Withers anyway.

Alan Clark:
"Myself, Guy Fletcher and John Illsley will attend the ceremony, where we'll be be performing an unplugged version of 'Telegraph Road' with me on harmonium, Guy on ukulele, John on banjo, and the vocal performed by the three of us as a three part harmony."

About time Bon Jovi makes it in. Like them or not, they sell records and have one helluva fan base.

So does Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, was actually surprised to learn Bon jovi hadn't made it in yet, seems like the kind of sappy rock band the hall falls over themselves to induct :dunno:

I've never understood the selection process, why is NWA and Madonna in the "Rock 'n' Roll hall of fame" yet some of the biggest metal bands of all time routinely get shafted? Last I checked the Metal genre is a hell of a lot closer to Rock than rap or whatever Madonna is considered.

The Monkees is a hot topic because of the fact evidence proves that on their first couple of Albums that it was the wrecking crew who played on the songs and the four guys just sang the songs

BANDS WITH ONE MAJOR MEMBER SNUBBED
FOR INDUCTION BY THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME
THEY ALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN INDUCTED

01. Bruce Johnston (1988: The Beach Boys)
02. Cindy Birdsong (1988: The Supremes)
03. Sonny Turner (1990: The Platters)

15. Anthony Phillips (2010: Genesis)
16. Alonzo Tucker (2012: The Midnighters)
17. John Rutsey (2013: Rush)
18. Nick Simper (2016: Deep Purple)
19. Peter Banks (2017: Yes)
20. Clint Warwick (2018: The Moody Blues)

So Mick Jagger gets to tell Jann Wenner and the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame to induct Ian Stewart and Mick Taylor with the Rolling Stones, but the Beach Boys don't get to have Bruce Johnston inducted with them. I'm thinking the Beach Boys didn't bother to ask which members of their band are being inducted, but Mick Jagger took the effort and did! Really sucks for Bruce Johnston. Jann Wenner loves the 60s so much, you'd think he would make sure of it himself that Bruce Johnston is inducted!

It is intersting that Danny Lane's name was added later. I thought it was because of of the Moody Blues. Turns out is was pressure from other members of the induction commitee lead by Little Stevie Van Zandt and a few others. Lane is already in as a member of Wings. While Laine founded the Moody Blues, he only played on one Album before leaving being replaced by the guys who made up what most consider the prime moody blues

Paul McCartney solo is in, but Wings are not in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Denny Laine will be a 2-time inductee once Wings is inducted in the sidemen category (now called musical excellence category). E Street Band was inducted a few years ago. The Belmonts, The Funk Brothers, The Silver Bullet Band, The Mothers of Invention, and The Revolution are not in yet either. Dion, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, Frank Zappa and Prince are in.

I don't think Paul McCartney would be included as an inductee with Wings, since it was Paul McCartney and Wings.

The Wings inductees would be...

01. Linda McCartney (1971-1981: keyboards)
02. Denny Laine (1971-1981: guitar; The Moody Blues)
03. Denny Seiwell (1971-1973: drums)
04. Henry McCullough (1972-1973: guitar; Eire Apparent, The Grease Band, Spooky Tooth)
05. Jimmy McCulloch (1974-1977: guitar; Stone The Crows, Thunderclap Newman)
06. Geoff Britton (1974-1975: drums)
07. Joe English (1975-1977: drums; Sea Level, Kingfish)
08. Laurence Juber (1978-1981: guitar)
09. Steve Holley (1978-1981: drums)

I recommend visiting once just to see all the exhibits and outfits but the whole organization and process is incredibly political and biased.

They hate metal outside of Metallica. How Priest is not in is an absolute joke and that's based solely on record sales without even getting into their music. They've basically had four eras of that band.

They also make Rock N Roll seem safe and like a niche thing. I hate that vibe, always have.

Purely based on her collective work she should be one of the most iconic bass players of all time......and most people have no idea outside of the industry.
I'm all for The Monkees getting in, it's funny what a controversy it was back then, now pop artists barely even sing their own songs.

Took wayyyyy too long for Dire Straits to get in.
The Smiths better get in soon.
Rage Against the Machine and Radiohead should get in relatively soon as they're fairly new nominees.

Shocking - Judas Priest isn't in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, but 2Pac and NWA are?
