Unfortunately, we lost another of the old time journalists that were exactly as described in this tweet, and we are left with the click-bait driven, "we eat our own" journalistic frauds that have so permeated Boston sports for too long. RIP Mr. Harris, you will be missed.

He went in for a 'minor' procedure on his heart a couple of weeks ago and never woke up.

Ahhh,, that's awful! I can't imagine he was much older than mid 60's maybe? RIP, as I said the man was class.

Herald mourns passing of Bruins writer Steve Harris

Veteran Boston Herald Bruins writer Stephen Harris died last night after a battle with illness.
Harris, beloved by fans and colleagues alike, first joined the Herald in 1976. He was an authoritative and respected voice in the Boston hockey community.

During his four decades reporting on the Bruins, Harris covered thousands of games, hundreds of playoff contests, several Olympics and multiple Stanley Cup Finals, including the Bruins’ historic march to the Cup in 2011.
Harris is survived by his wife and two sons.

“Steve was a gentleman first and foremost, but also a man who was dedicated to hockey and to the Herald,” Herald sports editor Sean Leahy said. "It’s a devastating loss for us at the Herald, but our hearts are especially broken for his wife, Kathy, and Steve’s two sons.”

Since the Globe put limits on the number of articles you could read, the Herald has become my go-to source for the majority of Bruins news. I really appreciated Stephen Harris' presentation and thoughtful insights into all things Bruin. My condolences to his family and and to his colleagues
at the Herald.

As an outsider from Calgary, I have to tell you he was one of my favorites.
In the dark ages pre internet I had a friend who worked on an airline who would pick up Boston papers for me just so I could have more Bruin news than the local Herald or Sun provided. Thanks to his outstanding work, I fell even more into the LF than possible. RIP.

The passing of longtime Boston Herald hockey writer Steve Harris is jarring news to those of us who worked alongside him for many years. Do I have a favorite Steve Harris memory? Yes: Watching him watch his son Jack play baseball in Cambridge back in 2008. Steve just loved talking about his sons. My condolences to his family.

Sounds like a guy who had his priorities in order. I enjoyed his articles. My guess is that the players and coaches probably liked him as well.

There are no minor procedures where ones heart is involved. The person who called it that needs to give their head a shake, twice.

RIP
